10 Most Painful-Looking Stunts In The Jackass Movies

If you grew up during the 2000s, you’ll know that Jackass was a viral sensation. Most audiences at the time had never seen anything like it. Silly stunts infused with skater culture were a perfect mix. Better yet, the Jackass crew had genuine chemistry, which translated so well to TV.

Over the years, the Jackass members appeared in numerous spin-offs, including Wildboyz and Viva La Bam. It also inspired many copycat shows and groups with their own take on the concept. Most of those projects are no longer running, but the influence of Jackass cannot be understated.

Fans were hungry for more of Johnny Knoxville and his friends’ shenanigans, and they absolutely got it with Jackass: The Movie in 2002. Since then, the team has released multiple films. Johnny Knoxville even had his own spin off in Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. It’s a movie featuring several stunts, wrapped around a ridiculous story about a grandpa connecting with his grandson.

Many audiences would agree that Jackass remains the original and best group for silly stunts. Those scenes have only grown in scope in later movies, ramping up the laughs, danger, and injuries. There are dozens of stunts across the Jackass movie library, but some stand out for one specific reason.

Several stunts in Jackass look extremely painful. The crew has endured everything from paper cuts to electric shocks over the years. Some of those stunts feature relatable pain, while others include scenarios so terrifying that almost nobody would attempt them.

With this in mind, here’s a selection of some of the most painful-looking stunts from the Jackass movies. Several of the scenes don’t just look painful; they caused long-lasting injuries.

10

Super Mighty Glue (Jackass 3D)

We’re starting our list with a stunt involving multiple members of the Jackass crew and some particularly relatable pain. During Jackass 3D, Johnny Knoxville explains that the team is going to have some fun with Super Mighty Glue.

Bam sticks his hands to Preston and his dad’s chests before ripping them off, along with handfuls of chest hair. Next, he ups the ante by pulling out Ryan Dunn’s beard hair.

Finally, the team glues Wee Man to Preston, chest to chest. It’s not the most extravagant stunt, but ripping hair out is painful, and the scene is memorable because everyone watching is in hysterics.

Paper Cuts (Jackass: The Movie)

Even the mere mention of paper cuts makes audiences wince. It’s arguably one of the most universally relatable injuries and extraordinarily uncomfortable despite the small wound.

As this is Jackass, the crew goes straight for the most painful body parts to cut. Knoxville runs the edge of a manila envelope across the skin between his fingers and toes. Blood is drawn, and viewers can hear the slice.

Not to be outdone, Steve-O ramps up the pain and volunteers to have someone run an envelope across the edges of his mouth. The paper-cut stunt may not be the most debilitating, but the audience feels its effects long after the short scene ends.

Toro Totter (Jackass Number Two)

The Toro Totter is the first stunt on our list that could be life-threatening. Johnny Knoxville, Bam, Chris Pontius, and Ryan Dunn are riding a metal four-way seesaw in a small arena. Moments later, an angry bull is set loose on them.

It’s a wild stunt, and Dunn is injured as he tries to escape the arena. The bull hits Pontius’ leg, but Knoxville has a far worse time. He’s the last person to escape, and the bull smashes into him while he’s trying to dismount the seesaw multiple times.

Fans would argue that Jackass Number Two contains many of the most painful and dangerous stunts of all the movies. The Toro Totter is a perfect example of that.

Tooth Pulling Stunt (Jackass 3D)

The Tooth Pulling stunt is one of the most memorable scenes in all the Jackass movies. It doesn’t look any more painful than some other stunts on this list, but it had long-lasting consequences for Ehren.

During the stunt, the crew attaches a string around one of Ehren’s front teeth and ties it to the back of a Lamborghini. The car races away, and the audience hears a loud ‘pop’ as Ehren’s tooth comes loose. Shortly after, audiences see the stunt again in slow motion, capturing the moment the string was pulled tight.

Ehren later admitted that the tooth didn’t just pop out. He also suffered a facial injury due to the force.

Beehive Tether Ball (Jackass 3D)

The Beehive Tether Ball stunt isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Jackass crew use bees in their movies. They previously filled a limo with bees, but the Tetherball scene in Jackass 3D is arguably much worse.

Dave England and Steve-O play tether ball with a ball filled with bees. The bees start stinging England before the stunt even starts, and he’s the first to run from the tether.

The stunt makes the list because England is distraught afterward. He exclaims, “I’m hurt,” several times as Manny explains that the bees were targeting him because he warmed up while running.

5

Electric Avenue (Jackass 3D)

The Electric Avenue is a vicious assault course stunt in Jackass 3D. Several crew members must clear a short distance down a hallway. The catch is that the floor is covered in tires, with many live tasers hanging from strings above the course.

Naturally, the tasers are so close together that there’s no way to avoid them. There are also rotating sticks with tasers attached above the floor at waist height. Everyone who attempts the Electric Avenue gets hit, but Bam appears to take the worst of it.

After the stunt, he admits that the Electric Avenue was painful, saying that he now hates tasers more than bulls or snakes.

4

The Brand (Jackass Number Two)

Bam Margera suffered a permanent injury during Jackass Number Two. The team visited a ranch, where Ryan heated a metal shape on a stick. He then branded Bams’ backside with it, multiple times.

Audiences can even hear the sizzle, and the pain is so intense that Bam runs and sits in a water trough moments later. During the movie, we also see the aftermath as Bam shows his parents his injury three days later.

The branding shape does not look clean, and Bam’s mom points out that he will have that mark for the rest of his life.

3

The Cup Test (Jackass Forever)

The Jackass crew members are no strangers to taking hits to the groin. They performed many similar stunts in the show, but one particularly powerful impact made it into Jackass Forever.

Ehren opted to do the stunt, believing he would be punched in the groin by a lightweight UFC fighter. In reality, the crew requested that Francis Ngannou, a heavyweight UFC competitor, deliver the punch.

The Flaming Gauntlet (Jackass 3.5)

Few injuries are as painful as burns, and Steve-O was badly hurt during the Flaming Gauntlet stunt in Jackass 3.5. It’s an incredibly dangerous scene where Steve-O must traverse a balancing beam while crew members push flaming obstacles at him.

To make the Flaming Gauntlet even worse, the floor is on fire. During the stunt, Steve-O slips off the beam into the flames below, inflicting injuries so bad that he had to visit a burn unit.

Steve-O explained that the stunt was particularly nasty because the owner of the warehouse they were shooting in was concerned his floor would get damaged. The team remedied this by placing metal panels on the floor, which were hot by the time Steve-O landed on them.

The Magic Trick (Jackass Forever)

Johnny Knoxville about to get hit by a charging bull during the magic trick in Jackass Forever

Fans of Jackass likely saw this one coming, but the Magic Trick stunt in Jackass Forever is arguably one of the most shocking and painful in the franchise’s history. Knoxville was badly injured, and the crew’s reaction makes the scene tough to rewatch.

The stunt isn’t even particularly grandiose. Johnny Knoxville wears a magician’s suit and stands in a bull ring. A bull charges at Knoxville, launching him into the air. He lands badly and drops to the ground motionless before the bull is escorted from the arena.

The biggest difference between the Magic Trick and other stunts is the crew. Laughter usually accompanies even the most shocking Jackass events. Nobody is laughing here, as the group realizes that Knoxville isn’t acting for laughs and is genuinely hurt.

After a stay in the hospital, Knoxville confirmed that he suffered a concussion, a broken rib, and a broken wrist.
