The Fitzhugh Mullan Health Workforce Institute at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health has announced the 2026 class of Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity (AFHE).
Established in 2016 as Leaders for Health Equity, the program includes a year-long non-residential program designed to deepen their leadership and strategic thinking. This year, a cohort of 15 global leaders dedicated to combating health disparities and promoting equity will work to improve health in their communities and beyond, bringing deep experience across areas including health economics and financing, mental health, youth development, community health programs, oncology, nursing, food security, social work, health services and education, nephrology and occupational health. With this ninth cohort, AFHE’s network includes 152 fellows whose work continues to shape systems, inform policy, and build community power across sectors and geographies.
“We need health leaders who are prepared not only to respond to inequities but to build systems that prevent them,” Mullan Institute director Patricia Pittman. “The 2026 cohort brings the passion and perspective required to do just that, and to support one another in the process.”
