Carson Tahoe Health team members recognized for 2025 Nevada HEAL program

Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine visited Carson Tahoe Health on Thursday, July 17 to recognize six healthcare professionals who were selected as part of the 2025 recipients of the Nevada Health Equity and Loan Assistance (“Nevada HEAL”) Program.

Six awardees from Carson Tahoe Carson Tahoe Health were among 67 total healthcare providers selected statewide to receive loan repayment support through the Nevada HEAL Program this year.

To qualify, applicants must be actively licensed, certified or registered in good standing in Nevada and commit to serving in rural or urban underserved communities for a minimum of five years of full-time clinical practice.

The state-funded program provides between $15,000 and $120,000 in assistance to eligible healthcare workers who commit to five years of full-time clinical service in underserved rural or urban Nevada communities.

“Recruiting and retaining skilled healthcare workers is a critical step in creating the State that Nevadans deserve to live in,” said Conine. “These professionals have made a commitment to care for Nevadans in communities with tremendous needs and we are proud to support them with meaningful assistance in paying down the student loans that make their expertise possible.”

The Nevada HEAL Program was enacted in the 2023 legislative session through the passage of Assembly Bill 45 in an effort to bolster medical personnel in underserved communities. It is expected to provide approximately $1 million in student loan repayment assistance annually. Applications for the 2026 award cycle will open in January 2026 for a 30-day period. More details regarding application will be released in the fall of 2025.

Among the six Carson Tahoe recipients, the following team members were present at the event:

  • Thania Edith Rodriguez Mendoza
  • Jessica Young
  • Makenna R. Lafond
