Yogesh Soman as Sant Tukaram in Abhang Tukaram:

A new Marathi film Abhang Tukaram is all set to bring the divine journey of Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj to the big screen. Veteran actor Yogesh Soman will be seen in the powerful role of Sant Tukaram, while actress Smita Shewale will play his wife, Avali.

On Monday, the film’s cast visited Dehu, the sacred land of Sant Tukaram, where the atmosphere turned devotional with chants of “Gyanba-Tukaram,” the beats of tal and mridang, and the collective spirit of the devotees. Yogesh Soman, dressed in traditional attire with a pagdi, tilak, and chiplya in hand, appeared as Sant Tukaram, giving the audience a glimpse of his on-screen character.

Directed by Digpal Lanjekar, the film will present the timeless wisdom and philosophy of Sant Tukaram’s abhangas (devotional verses). The director shared that Tukaram’s words hold the essence of spirituality and meaningful living, and this film aims to take that message to the younger generation.

Abhang Tukaram is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak under Panorama Studios, with Murli Dhar Chhatwani and Ravindra Auti as co-producers. The film also features Mrinal Kulkarni, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Ajay Purkar, Ajinkya Raut, Tejas Barve and several other talented actors.

Music plays a key role in the film, with as many as ten abhangs included, composed by singer-music director Avadhoot Gandhi. Promising a soulful blend of devotion, music, and cinema, Abhang Tukaram will release in theatres on 7th November.
