Diwali 2025 has brought some sad news also. Veteran Bollywood actor Asrani passed away at the age of 84. The sad news was confirmed by his nephew, Ashok Asrani. The senior and versatile actor of Hindi cinema, Shri Govardhan Asrani, breathed his last this evening around 12 noon after a prolonged illness. He was originally a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan, and completed his education at St. Xavier’s School, Jaipur.

He was admitted to the Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai. He Was Cremated At Shastri Nagar, Santacruz later In the evening in presence of his close people and family members, as per information by his manager Babubhai Thiba. The last rites were performed today and no film personality was present there. The reason is today morning he had told his wife Manju that he doesn’t want chaos at his funeral and wants to leave peacefully. That’s why she requested Asrani’s secretary not to inform industry people.

Asrani, who dedicated over five decades to Indian cinema, was one of the most loved and respected actors of his time. With his effortless comic timing, expressive face, and warm screen presence, he became a household name across generations. He began his career in the 1960s and went on to become a key part of both mainstream and parallel cinema, often balancing humour and emotion with remarkable ease.

He could make audiences laugh, cry, and empathize — often within the same film. He was last seen in Bollywood movies in Non Stop Dhamal and Dream Girl 2 in 2023. He made his last appearance in Web Series The Trial 2 (2025).
