Anushka Shetty starrer Ghaati hit the big screens today amidst decent buzz. Krish Jagarlamudi is the director of this movie. Check out our Review to know how it fares.

Story:

Set on the Andhra-Odisha border (AOB), the Eastern Ghats serve as the hub for cultivating ganja and exporting it. The Ghaatis work as transporters under Kaastala Naidu (Ravindra Vijay), with Sheelavathi (Anushka Shetty) and Desi Raju (Vikram Prabhu) also involved in the operations. However, they branch out to start their own business and approach the bigwigs directly, which Naidu cannot tolerate. In retaliation, his gang destroys their livelihoods, causing a personal loss to Sheelavathi. Pushed to the edge, she rises against them, and her path of revenge forms the rest of the Story.

Plus Points:

Anushka Shetty once again dons a fierce role and commands attention in several moments. Her screen presence is striking, and she excels in the action sequences, where her aggression feels convincing.

Vikram Prabhu, making his Tollywood debut, delivers a watchable performance. His screen time is limited, but he makes it count, and his scenes with Anushka come out well.

Jagapathi Babu brings lightness to the proceedings with his brief comic touches, while Chaitanya Rao makes the most of a neatly written role. The supporting cast performs adequately.

Minus Points:

Although the film has all the ingredients – action, love, and revenge – it lacks a gripping storyline to hold them together. The screenplay is flat and predictable, making the proceedings unengaging.

The film misses emotional depth, especially in the second half, which had scope for a powerful payoff but falters due to weak and uneven writing. Character progressions feel abrupt and unnatural, leaving several arcs underdeveloped.

Even central roles like Anushka’s and Ravindra Vijay’s deserved stronger writing. The characters are set up with potential but never receive the depth or elevation needed to drive the narrative forward.

Technical Aspects:

Chintakindi Srinivas Rao’s writing lacks weight, and Krish’s direction follows the same path without adding spark. Sai Madhav Burra’s dialogues click occasionally but fail to elevate the unimpressive narrative.

The visuals of the Ghats are captured attractively, yet the editing lacks sharpness, making the film feel longer than it is. Vidya Sagar’s songs falls flat, though his background score provides some relief in crucial moments.

Verdict:

On the whole, Ghaati is a revenge drama that works in parts. Anushka Shetty brings intensity to her role, and Vikram Prabhu makes a respectable debut, but the film suffers from weak writing and dull execution. A few characters could have been better developed. You can watch this film if you wish, but keeping expectations low is advisable.
