The ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is a new graphics card (GPU) that aims to deliver strong performance without an extreme price. And as you very well know, when choosing a new GPU, you have to be careful about the balance between performance, efficiency, and cost. ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti comes with NVIDIA’s latest features, like DLSS 4 and improved ray tracing, while keeping power consumption and heat at reasonable levels. After using it daily and testing it in a variety of games and benchmarks, I’m now ready to tell you more about it. All in the hope that you’ll be able to make an informed decision regarding whether to get it right now, wait a for a few months, or look at other options:
ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti: Who is it good for?
This graphics card is a great choice if you want:
- Ultra visual settings and high frame rates in games at 4K and 1440p resolutions
- Great ray tracing performance and DLSS 4
- A powerful GPU that doesn’t get hot
Pros and cons
Here is what I like about the ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti:
- Excellent performance at any resolution, including 4K
- Improved ray tracing compared to older versions
- DLSS 4 upscaling technology
- Lost of fast GDDR7 memory (16 GB)
- Effective cooling system and factory overclock
- Relatively low power use for its performance (around 300 Watts)
As for downsides:
- Its price is high at launch and availability isn’t great
- The card uses a 16-pin power connector instead of regular 8-pin connectors, which isn’t great for cable management

Verdict
The ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is a good graphics card in terms of both performance and efficiency. It can run any game at 1440p on Ultra settings with high frame rates, and it can also handle 4K, though you might want to enable DLSS or slightly lower visual quality settings for really high frame rates. If you’re an NVIDIA fan using an older GPU, this card is worth looking at. But if you already have an RTX 4080 SUPER or if you can find one at a similar price, during a sale, you’ll enjoy similar performance. The ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti can be, undoubtedly, a great option for any gamer, but whether it’s worth getting or not will probably depend on whether you can actually find it in stores for the right price, not one that’s inflated by high demand and lack of supply. Because yes, stocks already seem to be a problem with the whole new NVIDIA RTX 5000 series lineup.

Design and hardware specifications
Built on NVIDIA’s new Blackwell architecture, the RTX 5070 Ti is designed to deliver high frame rates, including in 4K resolutions. The ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti features 8960 CUDA cores, which handle general graphics processing, and Blackwell AI shader cores, designed for advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tasks. It delivers up to 44 teraflops (TFLOPS) of raw computing power for gaming and rendering. The card also includes 5th-generation Tensor Cores, optimized for AI features like DLSS 4, providing 1406 AI TOPS (trillions of operations per second) for fast AI calculations. For ray tracing, it comes with 4th-generation Ray Tracing Cores, capable of 133 TFLOPS, allowing for more realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections in games. The GPU has 16 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 256-bit bus, with a boost clock going up to 2482 MHz in overclock mode (and 2452 MHz in normal mode).

The technical specs of the ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti look good
Like the other RTX 5000 cards, the 5070 Ti supports DLSS 4, NVIDIA’s AI-based upscaling tech that improves frame rates and image quality. It includes Multi Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, and Super Resolution. NVIDIA says it can raise frame rates by up to 8 times compared to traditional rendering, and up to 1.7 times when switching from Frame Generation to Multi Frame Generation.

Regarding outputs, the ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is equipped with one HDMI 2.1b port and three DisplayPort 2.1b ports, letting you connect up to four monitors at a max resolution of 7680 x 4320. Unlike older GeForce RTX 4000 cards, the RTX 5000 series supports DisplayPort 2.1b.

There are three DisplayPort 2.1b and one HDMI 2.1b on the card
Cooling comes from three axial fans that use dual-ball bearings for better airflow and longer life.

The fans are axial and have dual bearings
On the back, a large metallic backplate helps with heat dissipation while also making the graphics card more rigid. That’s a good thing as you don’t want it bending under its own weight. That can lead to damage for both the GPU and the motherboard’s PCIe slot. One aspect to keep in mind is that the ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti has no RGB lights at all.

There’s no RGB on this GPU
A questionable choice is using a 16-pin power connector. The graphics card draws 300 Watts at max, so two or three standard 8-pin connectors would have been enough probably, avoiding an extra cable that merges three 8-pin connectors into one 16-pin. This can make cable management messier.

Additional power is delivered via a 16-pin connector
In terms of size, the ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is large, measuring approximately 30.4 cm in length, 12.6 cm in width, and 5 cm in thickness. That’s 12 x 5 x 2 inches for those who prefer the imperial measuring system. Technically, the card occupies 2.5 slots, but in real life, that’s three, so make sure your PC case has enough space to accommodate it.

The ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is a large GPU

In 3DMark’s synthetic tests, the results reached by the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti are again close to those of the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER. In Time Spy Extreme, it gets a score of 12864, about 3% lower. In Port Royal, it scores 19201, about 5% higher. In all these tests, it regularly outperforms the RTX 4070 Ti by 20 to 40%, showing its robust ray tracing and overall higher gaming performance.

Benchmark results in 3DMark
Despite the high levels of performance you get from it, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti runs cooler than the other two cards in my comparisons. It hits a max of 73°C, which is 5% cooler than the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER and 2% cooler than the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti.

Peak temperature recordings
It also uses 302 watts at maximum, roughly 9% less than the RTX 4080 SUPER. Though it’s about 6% more than the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, the extra performance is worth it for many gamers.

Maximum power draw
All in all, the ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 Ti stays close to the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER. Sometimes they’re even, and sometimes one or the other performs slightly better. However, compared to the RTX 4070 Ti predecessor, the improvements in performance are meaningful and easily noticeable.
