While all high chairs sold in the U.S. must meet a federal safety standard that went into effect in June 2019, they still differ in significant ways outside of aesthetics and style. The best high chairs on the market are easier to use and clean than others, and some are even safer, depending on how stable they are and the type of harness they use.
Consumer Reports has tested over a dozen high chairs in our lab, including models from popular brands like Bloom, Bugaboo, Cosco, Fisher-Price, Graco, Ikea, Lalo, Maxi-Cosi, Peg Perego, Skip Hop, Stokke, and Uppababy. Our experienced team of testers evaluated each high chair’s ease of cleaning, ease of use, and of course, safety, using safety tests based on the same standards used by the federal government.
Below, you’ll find the nine best high chairs from those tests. To see how the other models performed, check our comprehensive high chair ratings.
