Building a gaming PC with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D: What to expect?

For the past few weeks, I’ve been building and using a new PC designed to be fast, powerful, and cool. It’s been an exciting experience – from making sure it looks good to testing and managing my daily tasks on it. I had high expectations, and so far, this build has exceeded them. Built with a variety of Corsair, MSI, and AMD hardware, this desktop computer showcases what can be achieved with high-quality gaming components. My experience with a gaming computer equipped with AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

First and foremost, I must tell you what this computer looks like from the outside. That’s because one of the best things about this build is the Corsair case, which holds everything together. The Corsair 6500 Series is not only good-looking with its glass panels, but it also has great airflow that keeps everything cool. It’s spacious, easy to build in, and makes cable management simple with its dual-chamber design.

At the center of the setup is an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, a capable processor built for gaming and high-speed computing. It features second-generation 3D V-Cache and has a modern design based on the latest AMD Zen 5 architecture. This design comes with significant improvements in performance and efficiency compared to previous generations, making everything from video editing to rendering and games run smoothly. Paired with the MSI MPG X870E CARBON WIFI motherboard, this build offers stability and support for the newest and most demanding software and games.

The motherboard’s DDR5 memory support and fast PCIe 4.0 slots allow every part to work at its best without slowdowns. The Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 DRAM memory inside the PC runs at 6000 MT/s, making everything fast and with no delays. 32GB of RAM is plenty for gaming, streaming, and even working on more advanced projects, such as those in video editing or 3D rendering.

Fast storage is also important, and the Corsair MP600 PRO NH NVMe SSD brings significant improvements. With fast read and write speeds, this computer boots up quickly (in about 29 seconds), and games load almost instantly. Once you get used to drives that are this fast, it’s hard to go back to slower storage like PCIe 3.0 SSDs.

Cooling was another key part of my setup, and the Corsair iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX AIO Cooler has done an amazing job. Even when I was playing demanding games, this liquid cooler kept the Ryzen 7 9800X3D at safe temperatures, so I never had to worry about overheating. For instance, in Star Wars Outlaws, the processor’s temperature had spikes of up to 87 degrees Celsius (189 degrees Fahrenheit), but the average temperature was somewhere between 56 and 65 degrees Celsius (133 to 149 degrees Fahrenheit). Oh, and the iCUE software also lets me control the fan speeds and lighting, making it easy to customize exactly how I like it.

One of the best tests for this system was playing Star Wars Outlaws. This open-world game requires both a powerful processor and a strong graphics card. Running at 4K on Ultra settings, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT handled everything easily. The game world looked incredible, with sharp textures, realistic lighting, and smooth animations. Whether I was flying through space, sneaking behind Stormtroopers, or shooting my way through battles, the game felt responsive and immersive. The fast RAM and SSD also helped with the nearly instant load times, letting me focus on the action. I tried a few other games, and the performance I got was similar to that documented in my in-depth review of the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor. As you can imagine, I was happy with this gaming PC.

While I earn my living writing and spend my nights gaming, a computer like this one is excellent for any work that requires high performance. Rest assured, you’ll get that and more. This type of PC is ideal for gamers seeking high frame rates, smooth gameplay, and quick load times. It’s also a fantastic option for professionals who need powerful computing. I’m thinking of video editors, 3D artists, and designers handling large files and resource-intensive applications. This build will handle anything you throw at it.

After a few weeks of using this gaming computer, it has met all my expectations. The mix of AMD, MSI, and Corsair hardware components, has created a system that is both powerful and good-looking. Gaming was excellent, and clearly everyday tasks don’t ask much from such fast hardware. I love a PC that not only works great, but also looks amazing.
