The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) achieved remarkable success at the 2025 Veterans Health Hackathon in Tampa, FL, with winning team members in all three competition tracks.
This three-day event brought together VA employees and expert mentors to foster collaboration and develop innovative solutions to the VA’s most pressing challenges. Participants worked in interdisciplinary teams, guided by mentors and Veterans, to tackle real-world issues through Veteran-centered innovation.
The competition featured three distinct tracks: Timely Access to Care, Optimizing Enterprise-wide Costs and Operational Efficiency, and Improving Community Care Coordination. Teams from NF/SGVHS excelled, with Team 120, Bravo Zulu Health, and Onelis Cardona Lorenzo winning the Timely Access to Care track. In the second track, Team 214 and Robert Eaton, representing VA Resource Allocation Mapping (VA R.A.M.), took first place, while Team 218, AutoVAte and Catherine Javellana finished as runners-up. Additionally, Team 302, Mission: Fax Possible and Edward Martin triumphed in the Community Care Coordination track.
“It was truly exciting to learn that our team secured first place on Track 2. I am eager to begin working on our concept,” said Eaton, a clinical nurse leader and member of Team 214. “The ultimate goal is to implement innovative ideas that will enhance the care we provide to Veterans.”
With over 50 teams participating in the event, this achievement highlights the exceptional talent and commitment of NF/SGVHS to enhance the lives of veterans.
