Fortnite Winterfest 2024: Start Time, What to Expect and More

It’s the holiday season for us all, and gamers are part of it. Just like the countless games out there, Fortnite has its own cheerful fun. The Fortnite Winterfest 2024 has been announced and brings with it a lot of fun stuff. But when does it begin, and what can we expect? Keep reading as we talk about it all right here.

When Does Fortnite Winterfest 2024 Start?

Winterfest 2024 starts on Friday, December 20, at 9:00 AM ET. You’ll see the game update coming out a bit earlier on Wednesday, December 18, but don’t get too excited just yet, as the actual event won’t kick off until Friday morning. The winter celebration runs until January 7, 2025, giving you about 18 days to enjoy all the holiday content.

Every day during Winterfest, you can head to the Winterfest tab to open a new present. One of these presents will probably be a free Guff skin decked out as a Christmas tree with lights (leaked by Shiina). If you’re planning your login schedule, keep December 24 in mind – Epic usually saves one of its best free skins for Christmas Eve.

Map and Gameplay Changes

According to reliable Fortnite leakers like HYPEX and ShiinaBR, a lot of new stuff will be coming to the game. For starters, the whole map’s getting its yearly winter makeover with snow covering the ground. You’ll get to play with the Snowball Launcher again, and there’s talk about adding ice skates to help you move faster across frozen areas.

Remember Crackshot’s Cabin from past Winterfests? It might be coming back this year. It’s that cozy spot where you can sit by the fire and earn some XP while taking a break from matches.

Make sure to update your game when the patch drops on Wednesday. Even though you won’t see Winterfest stuff immediately, you’ll want your game ready for Friday morning. The downtime usually starts around 2:00 or 4:00 AM ET, with matchmaking shutting off 30 minutes before that.

What to Do in Fortnite Winterfest 2024

When the event starts, your first stop should be checking out the Winterfest tab to grab your first present. Take some time to explore the snowy map changes and try out any new items or weapons that get added.

The event’s timing works well with Epic’s holiday break, so you’ll have plenty of time to work through all the content. Just remember to log in each day for your presents—you don’t want to miss out on any of the free stuff.

You’ve got a good amount of time to enjoy everything Fortnite Winterfest has to offer this year. Whether you’re in it for the free stuff, the winter gameplay changes, or just the festive atmosphere, there’s something for everyone during Fortnite’s holiday celebration.
