The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (Fan Edition) is a more budget-friendly version of the company’s flagship smartphones. You lose the higher-resolution display and Snapdragon CPU, but you retain the primary rear camera.

Samsung’s current budget flagship, the Galaxy S24 FE, is now on sale for $500 at Amazon and the company’s online store. That’s a discount of $150 from the original MSRP, and a great price for the hardware and long-term software support.

The Galaxy S24 FE is a budget alternative to the Galaxy S24 and S25 series, with a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, an Exynos 2400e chipset with 8GB RAM, a 4,7000mAh battery, a USB Type-C port with 25W fast charging, support for fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, and IP68 water and dust protection. There’s no headphone jack or microSD card slot.

For photos and videos, you get a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP wide camera, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 10MP front-facing camera. That’s a similar setup as Samsung’s newer Galaxy S25 and S25+ phones.

The Galaxy S24 FE shipped with Android 14 and One UI 6.1, but it should get an update to Android 15 and One UI 7 in the near future. Samsung promised seven “generations” of Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, which is about as good as it gets with smartphones. You don’t have to worry about this phone getting left behind with software support and critical security fixes.

There’s not really a ‘catch’ to the S24 FE, but the larger 6.7-inch screen might not be to everyone’s liking. You still get all the same core features as Samsung’s other flagship phones, just with slightly reduced performance and multi-tasking power: the S24 FE has an Exynos chipset with 8GB RAM, while the S25 series has Qualcomm Snapdragon chips in the US with at least 12GB RAM.

Samsung has discounted the phone to $500 at Amazon and its own online store, and if you order from Samsung with a valid trade-in device, you could get an even bigger discount. The sale without a trade-in is still great, though, especially if you’re looking to upgrade from an older or low-end phone.
