Hereford chiropractor accused of secretly recording female patient

A chiropractor in Hereford is accused of secretly recording a female patient. Police are not sure if there are other victims.

Dr. Michael J. Ellis is charged with invasive visual recording.

Police started the investigation into Ellis after one of his patients filed a complaint.

The case was referred to the Deaf Smith County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Due to a potential conflict of interest, the case was transferred to the Castro County District Attorney’s Office for continued review and investigation.

On Aug. 13, the Castro County District Attorney’s Office presented the case to a Deaf Smith County grand jury, which indicted Ellis on one count of invasive visual recording.

An arrest warrant was issued Monday. Later that same day, Ellis was arrested at his office and booked into the Deaf Smith County Jail.

The Hereford Police Department is continuing to investigate this matter.

If you were a patient of Ellis and believe you may have been subjected to similar actions, you are urged to contact the Hereford Police Department at 806-363-7120.
