How to Evolve Cosmog in Pokemon GO

Whether you’re a new trainer or a seasoned veteran in Pokemon GO, evolving Cosmog can seem tricky. This cute little Psychic-type Legendary Pokemon, also known as the Nebula Pokemon, has a unique evolution path tied to specific research tasks and time of day. If you’re someone confused about this particular monster, then this one’s for you. So, with that, keep reading to learn how to evolve Cosmog in Pokemon GO.

How to Get a Cosmog in Pokemon GO

First things first – you’ll need to get your hands on a Cosmog in Pokemon GO. This Pokemon is available through the Cosmic Companion Special Research story, first introduced during the Pokemon GO Season of Light.

When you complete the first part of this research, you’ll encounter Cosmog as a reward. Don’t worry if you missed the initial release, as this Special Research is still available to complete.

How to Evolve Cosmog in Pokemon GO

The evolution path for Cosmog has two stages. First, you’ll evolve it into Cosmoem, and then you can evolve Cosmoem into either Solgaleo or Lunala. Here’s how each stage works:

  • Evolving Cosmog into Cosmoem: To evolve Cosmog into Cosmoem, you’ll need 25 Cosmog Candies. You’ll receive these candies as a reward for completing Step 4 of the Cosmic Companion Special Research. The actual evolution task is part of Step 5, so the timing works out perfectly. If you can’t see the evolution option, try restarting your Pokemon GO app as this usually fixes any display issues.
  • Evolving Cosmoem into Solgaleo or Lunala: The second evolution requires more effort and planning. You’ll need 100 Cosmog Candy to evolve Cosmoem into either Solgaleo or Lunala. These candies come from completing the Cosmic Companion research. The evolution choice becomes available later in the research, appropriately titled “Evolve a Cosmoem.”

Here’s the interesting part – which evolution you get depends on when you perform the evolution:

  • For Solgaleo: Evolve Cosmoem during the day when your game map shows a bright green background.
  • For Lunala: Evolve Cosmoem at night when your game map displays a dark blue background.

If you need more Candy, you can make Cosmog your buddy Pokemon and walk with it. Each kilometer you walk will earn you one candy. You can also use Rare Candy if you’re in a hurry and have some to spare.

Pokemon GO Cosmog Evolution: Solgaleo or Lunala?

Both Solgaleo and Lunala are powerful Pokemon with similar combat performance, but the only difference is that Solgaleo is Steel Type while Lunala is Ghost Type. Lunala generally has better attacks, while Solgaleo has more types of immunities. The choice often comes down to personal preference and which design you like better – the majestic lion-like Solgaleo or the mysterious bat-like Lunala.

Make sure you’ve completed the necessary research steps before attempting to evolve. Check your game map color to confirm whether it’s day or night before evolving Cosmoem. Don’t rush the evolution process. The research tasks are designed to give you exactly enough candy when you need it.

Save your Rare Candy for other Legendary Pokemon unless you’re really eager to complete the evolution. So, which version will you be evolving into? Let us know in the comments below!
