How to fold a fitted sheet in just 5 steps, according to a bedding expert
Folding a fitted sheet is one of those chores that feels impossible to master — no matter how hard you try, those pesky elastic edges never seem to line up. We’ve all been there (and I’m sure we’ve all ended up screwing the sheet into a ball and shoving it into a drawer…)
But then I followed these five steps and folded my sheet perfectly first time. Plus it took less than two minutes. It’s super simple, quick and easy, and I’m kicking myself that I didn’t find this method before.
And now I’m here to share it with you, so you can enjoy a tidy, uncluttered bedroom and fresh, crisp sheets whenever you need.
How to fold a fitted sheet in 5 easy steps
1. Hold the sheet lengthwise
Start by holding the sheet with the shorter side at the top so it hangs lengthwise. Make sure the sheet is inside-out as this makes it easier to manage the elastic corners later. Hold one corner in each hand.
2. Tuck one corner into another
Slip your hand under each corner seam and tuck one into the other. This aligns the elastic neatly and helps bring it under control. The sheet will start forming a rectangular shape.

3. Repeat with the other side
You might have to lay it down on the bed at this point and do the same with the other two corners, tucking one into the other.
Once you’ve done that, grab one pair of folded corners and tuck them into the other pair of folded corners.
By the end of it, all four fitted corners will be stacked together and you should be left with a long, tidy rectangle — much easier to work with than before.

4. Smooth and shape into a rectangle
Gently smooth out any wrinkles and neaten the elastic edges so you’re left with a rectangle. You can also iron your fitted sheet at this stage (on a low heat setting) if you want that extra crisp, hotel feel.
5. Fold into thirds
Fold your sheet into thirds lengthwise, smoothing as you go. Based on the size of your storage, you can fold it as many times as you like, as small as you like.
You should be left with a compact square or rectangle shape that looks neat and stacks perfectly well with the rest of your bedding.

Try a DIY stain remover to make bedding cleaning easy
I make a paste made of baking soda (4 tablespoons) and cold water (1/4 cup), which is considered safe for most fabrics.
Then I apply a small amount to the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes. If it’s a particularly stubborn stain, I gently scrub it with a soft brush, but if not, I’ll rinse it with cold water and blot dry. Another effective solution is to mix equal parts of white vinegar and water.
Opt for cooler-tones when choosing bedding
Your choice in bedding color too can influence your sleep environment. Being a bedding expert, I would recommend going for cooler or pastel tones like soft blues, pinks, greens or white which can promote relaxation and make your space appear brighter and fresher.

With the sheer number of fabrics available in the market, choosing the right bedding can be a confusing task. Plus changing up sheets with every season can be expensive and tricky, especially for those with limited storage space.
