Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Patch Notes: All Changes and Hero Balances

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 is just a few hours away, and hype is building fast with every reveal. Update for the new season (#20250530) is packed with content—a new hero, a limited-time mode, fresh skins, a mini battle pass, and a brand-new map, along with several fixes and improvements. On top of that, major hero balance changes are set to shake up the meta in a big way. Here’s a quick look at everything coming in the Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 patch notes.

All New Content in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5

The Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 update is packed with new content, headlined by the arrival of a new hero, Ultron. The update will go live immediately after Season 2 ends. Here’s a full breakdown of all the new content coming in the Season 2.5 patch:

New Heroes and Costumes

  • Ultron is invading the Marvel Rivals roster, bringing chaos as the latest strategist.
  • Plenty of Marvel Rivals skins are coming with the Season 2.5 update. With Ultron’s debut, you can get the X-Tron Bundle or the Mechanical Phantom from the shop.
  • Groot’s Yggroot skin and the Chibi Jeff Bundle also enter the shop.

New Maps and Modes

  • The brand-new Convoy map, Hellfire Gala: Arakko, is joining the Marvel Rivals map list.
  • A new limited-time game mode, Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol, will be playable. It’s an autochess game mode with the Marvel Rivals characters.

Mini Battle Pass and Season Events

  • The limited-time Marvel Rivals Combat Chest mini pass will be live from May 30, 2025, to July 11, 2025 (UTC), after the Season 2.5 patch notes drop. Play matches to earn experience, level up your chest, and unlock milestone rewards like costumes, emojis, mood icons, and more. Activate the Premium Combat Chest for extra rewards and permanent access, letting you claim items at your own pace.
  • Through the new seasonal events, there are some free Marvel Rivals skins you can get in Season 2.5. You can get the Emma Frost skin from the Twitch Drops and the Binary Hawkeye skin from the Cerebro Database 2 event for free.

New Additions and Adjustments

  • Mood System Introduced: Add a vibe icon to your Nameplate to show off your current mood.
  • Emoji System Added: Use bubble-style emojis during combat and on the PLAY interface to express yourself.
  • Team Lobby Recommendations: A new Recommendation feature helps you stay on top of important info in the team lobby.
  • Nameplate Layout Update: Improved layout for clearer and more stylish Nameplate information.
  • Hero Selection Wheel Upgrade: Now displays Lord avatars during hero selection.
  • Career System Enhancements: Show off even more custom content and stats in your profile.
  • New Rank Rewards:
    • Unlock the Ultron – Golden Ultron costume by reaching Gold rank.
    • New Crests of Honor are available for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and Top 500 ranks.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Misc Updates

With the patch notes for Marvel Rivals Season 2.5, there are some new additions and changes that we will see in the tournament lobbies. Moreover, new spectator updates are coming with this update:

Tournament Room & Lobby Enhancements

  • Added Copy Functions for room name and password for easier sharing.
  • Introduced a new “Host Only” Move Permissions setting — only the host can rearrange player positions when enabled.
  • In Tournament Mode (Basic/Advanced), a Captain icon now appears during the ban/pick phase. Captains can right-click teammates to delegate ban duties.
  • Hosts of Tournament Room matches can now use a new “Immediately End Match” option from the ESC menu, with a confirmation prompt.
  • Added Auto-Select Server Node feature in Tournament Rooms, automatically picking the optimal server based on both teams’ connections. (Note: This is an experimental feature and may not always provide ideal results.)

Spectator System Updates

  • Spectators can now toggle visibility for character outlines, health bars, and names in the spectator settings.
  • Free-cam mode now includes a collision toggle, preventing the camera from clipping through objects when enabled.

PC-Specific Update

  • Added a new Performance Test feature under Display – Settings. Run a stress test on your hardware to find performance bottlenecks quickly.

Console Improvements

  • In pre-match hero selection, the cursor now benefits from improved snapping behavior. This feature must be manually turned on.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Fixes and Optimizations

All Platforms

  • General: Fixed an issue where spray and emote shortcut keys wouldn’t work on first launch. Players no longer need to open the selection wheel first to activate these shortcuts.
  • Maps and Modes:
    • Resolved various terrain issues that could cause characters to get stuck or clip into odd areas.
    • Fixed broken collision problems and floating objects across multiple maps.
    • Addressed several map-related sound effect glitches.
  • Heroes:
    • Emma Frost: Fixed an issue where her Telepathic Pulse couldn’t be maintained and didn’t generate energy when hitting Groot’s walls. Her power now hits as intended.
    • Peni Parker: Resolved a bug where stacked webs boosted overflow healing into excessive Bonus Health. Healing is now balanced, and web behavior is normalized.
    • Loki: Fixed an exploit in Regeneration Domain where healing from Loki and his illusions stacked far beyond intended limits. Healing effects are now in check.
    • Doctor Strange: Fixed a glitch where his portals could transport players to incorrect or random locations. Portal accuracy is now restored.
    • The Punisher: Resolved an issue where his passive skill revealed enemy outlines in Warrior Falls’ spawn room. The passive now behaves properly.
    • Peni Parker (Ultimate Ability): Fixed an issue on the Frozen Airfield map where webs would drop beneath the terrain when the stage moved. Web placement is now consistent.
    • Black Panther (Spirit Rend): Fixed erratic behavior after downing Winter Soldier mid-Trooper’s Fist. Ability now performs reliably.
    • Black Panther (Ultimate Ability): Addressed a rare issue where using the Ultimate right after wall-climbing under poor network conditions caused it to fail while still using energy. This has been corrected.
    • Adam Warlock: Fixed an exploit in Doom Match that allowed him to switch characters post-respawn through unintended actions. Character switching now functions as designed.

PC

  • Resolved issues with the experimental “Switch Shader Compilation Mode” that caused screen distortion or blacked-out materials in some scenarios.

Console

  • PS5: Fixed an issue where the selection wheel button couldn’t be remapped.
  • Addressed a bug in the hero list where the right analog stick failed to scroll properly.

Vanguard

Hero Name Changes
Captain America Nerf: Adjust base health from 600 to 575.
Nerf: Increase the delay of shield recovery from 2s to 4s after unleashing Living Legend.
Nerf: Increase the energy cost of Freedom Charge (Ultimate Ability) from 2800 to 3100.
Doctor Strange Nerf: Adjust the damage falloff of Daggers of Denak from starting at 10m and reducing to 62.5% at 20m to starting at 10m and reducing to 80% at 20m.
Buff: Remove the range damage falloff of Maelstrom of Madness.
Emma Frost Buff: Increase the range of Telepathic Pulse from 15.5m to 18m.
Nerf: Decrease the shield value of Mind’s Aegis from 500 to 400.
Nerf: Increase the cooldown of Carbon Crush from 5s to 6s.
Nerf: Decrease the hit damage of Crystal Kick from 50 to 40, and decrease the extra damage dealt when propelling the enemies into the wall from 100 to 90.
Groot Nerf: Decrease the damage of Vine Strike per hit from 70 to 65.
Nerf: Increase Ironwood Wall’s cooldown from 8s to 12s.
Magneto Buff: Increase the charging speed of rings from 4s/stack to 3s/stack.
Thor Nerf: Adjust Hammer Throw ability effect to a standard ability. Remove the Thorforce cost and the universal cooldown. Adjust the ability cooldown to 6s. Thor gains 1 Thorforce from each Hammer Throw enemy hit. Decrease the throw hit damage from 70 to 45, and the return damage from 30 to 20.
Nerf: Decrease the shield value gained when consuming Thorforce. Adjust the Bonus Health gained from each Thorforce consumed from 100 to 75 and adjust the maximum Bonus Health from 200 to 150.

Duelist

Hero Name Changes
Hawkeye Buff: Increase the base damage of his arrow from 32 to 34.
Buff: Increase the projectile damage of Blast Arrow from 15 to 16; Increase the spell field damage from 32 to 34.
Buff: Increase the maximum focus from 70 to 75. Increase the charging speed when aiming at an enemy from 100/s to 108/s and charge falloff speed from 30/s to 32/s.
Hela Buff: Increase the charge capacity of the Nightsword Thorn from 8 to 10.
Human Torch Nerf: Reduce the damage of Fire Cluster from 7 per hit to 6 per hit.
Nerf: Increase the charge speed of Blazing Blast from 2s to 3s.
Nerf: Decrease the shield value gained from Flaming Meteor from 75 to 50 and increase the cooldown from 15s to 20s.
Iron Fist Nerf: Lower the Dragon’s Defense damage blocked Bonus Health conversion rate from 1.5 to 1.3. Decrease the maximum Bonus Health converted from damage blocked from 200 to 175. Slightly decrease the dash distance of Yat Jee Chung Kuen in the z-axis direction when there is no target.
Nerf: Reduce Dragon’s Defense cooldown reduction from Jeet Kune Do hits from 1.5s to 1s.
Iron Man Nerf: Decrease the projectile damage of the third Repulsor Blast from 50 to 45, and decrease the Spell Field Damage from 60 to 55.
Nerf: Reduce Armor Overdrive maximum Bonus Health from 100 to 50.
Namor Nerf: Increase the Cooldown of Blessing of the Deep from 15s to 20s.
Nerf: Expand Horn of Proteus (Ultimate Ability) inner circle radius from 3m to 3.5m and outer circle radius from 8m to 9m. Decrease the outer circle radius hit damage from 200 to 180.
Nerf: Adjust Monstro Spawn Damage Falloff from starting at 20m, reducing to 30% at 40m, to starting at 20m, reducing to 50% at 40m.
Psylocke Nerf: Decrease the retrieval damage of Wing Shurikens from 14 to 12 per hit.
Nerf: Decrease the Invisibility Duration of Psychic Stealth from 3s to 2s.
Squirrel Girl Buff: Increase the capacity of Burst Acorn from 10 to 12.
Buff: Decrease the cooldown of Mammal Bond from 12s to 10s.
Buff: Optimize the user experience of Squirrel Blockade, Tail Bounce, and Unbeatable Squirrel Tsunami (Ultimate Ability).
Star-Lord Nerf: Increase the energy cost of Galactic Legend (Ultimate Ability) from 3100 to 3400. Extend the maximum target range from 30m to 40m. Adjust the damage falloff from reducing to 60% at 40m to reducing to 75% at 40m.
Storm Nerf: Increase damage of Omega Hurricane (Ultimate Ability) from 150/s to 160/s.
The Punisher Buff: Reduce the movement slow rate of Final Judgement (Ultimate Ability) from 20% to 10% when not firing, and from 40% to 30% when firing.
Buff: Increase Adjudication’s magazine size from 30 to 40, single hit damage from 18 to 19, and slightly reduce spread when firing.

Strategist

Hero Name Changes
Jeff the Land Shark Nerf: Add a new effect to Joyful Splash: Now also deals damage to enemies at 70/s and can heal allies through other allies and enemies. Damage falloff starts at 20m to a maximum of 65% at 40m; Reduce healing per second from 150 to 130.
Nerf: Change Aqua Burst to a charge ability (max 3 charges, 3s per charge); New effect: direct hits now launch enemies up; Increase spell field damage from 40 to 45.
Nerf: Change the effect of Healing Bubble from One-Time Healing to Healing Over Time. Increase Healing Amount from the previous instant 85 to 120 over 4s. Reduce max charges from 6 to 3 and remove the enemy launch-up effect.
Nerf: Add a new effect to Hide and Seek: It now has an energy cap (max 120) that drains by 20/s while submerged and restores 15/s when not.
Nerf: It’s Jeff!’s (Ultimate Ability) overflow healing on swallowed allies now grants 45 Health per second as Bonus Health, up to 150.
Nerf: Increase the damage reduction received when taking a critical hit from 50% to 70%.
Nerf: Increase the energy cost of It’s Jeff (Ultimate Ability) from 4000 to 4500.
Luna Snow Buff: Increase Light & Dark Ice Healing Amount and Damage from 20 per round to 22.
Buff: Add a new effect to Absolute Zero: Now grants 50 Bonus Health per enemy hit.
Nerf: Increase the energy cost of Fate of Both Worlds (Ultimate Ability) from 4500 to 5000.
Rocket Raccoon Nerf: Reduce Repair Mode direct hit Healing Amount from 55 to 50.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5: Team-Up Ability Changes

Along with the hero refresh, the Season 2.5 update patch notes reveal massive Marvel Rivals team-up changes. Here are all the balances and new adjustments we will see with the new season:

New Team-Up Ability

Chilling Assault (Luna Snow – Hawkeye)

  • Luna Snow (Anchor): Gains +15% healing effect.
  • Hawkeye: Unlocks new Ice Arrow ability.

Jeff-nado (Storm – Jeff the Land Shark)

  • Storm: Gains new Shark Surge ability.
  • Jeff: Unlocks It’s Jeff-nado! ability.

Operation: Microchip (The Punisher – Black Widow)

  • The Punisher (Anchor): Gains +25 max HP and +5% damage boost.
  • Black Widow: Unlocks new Pulse Rifle ability.

Rocket Network (Rocket Raccoon – Peni Parker)

  • Rocket Raccoon (Anchor): Gains +5% healing effect. B.R.B. is upgraded to Web Beacon when Team-Up is active.
  • Peni Parker: Unlocks new Armored Spider-Nest ability.

Stark Protocol (Iron Man – Ultron)

  • Iron Man (Anchor): Gains +5% damage boost.
  • Ultron: Unlocks new Nano-Ray ability.

Symbiote Shenanigans (Venom – Jeff the Land Shark)

  • Venom (Anchor): Gains +150 max HP.Jeff: Gains
  • Healing Tendrils ability.

Adjusted or Removed Team-Ups

Allied Agents (Hawkeye – Black Widow)

  • Removed Hawkeye’s Anchor effect and Team-Up Ability.
  • Black Widow loses Supersensory Hunt ability.

Ammo Overload (Rocket Raccoon – The Punisher)

  • Removed Rocket Raccoon’s Anchor effect and Team-Up Ability.
  • The Punisher loses Infinite Punishment ability.

Chilling Charisma (Luna Snow – Jeff the Land Shark)

  • Removed Luna Snow’s Anchor effect and Team-Up Ability.
  • Jeff loses Frozen Spitball ability.

Gamma Charge (Hulk – Iron Man/Namor)

  • Iron Man loses Gamma Overdrive ability.

Symbiote Bond (Venom – Peni Parker/Spider-Man)

Atlas Bond (Iron Fist – Luna Snow)

  • Reduced Anchor damage boost from 15% → 10%.

Fantastic Four (Invisible Woman – Human Torch – Mister Fantastic – The Thing)

  • Increased cooldown of Storm Siblings, Wedded Harmony, and Cooperative Comrades from 20s → 25s.

Gamma Charge (Hulk – Namor)

  • Increased Gamma Monstro cooldown from 15s → 20s.

Mental Projection (Emma Frost – Psylocke/Magneto)

  • Reduced illusion damage from 30% → 20% for Magnetic Resonance and Soul Resurgence.
