UTA Health Services is located on campus at 605 S. West St. The health center provides medical clinic, sports medicine and gynecological services.

UTA and Arlington offer a wide range of health and wellness services to support students, from health care and psychological counseling to fitness and basic needs.

Here are on- and off-campus medical and mental health hubs for students to know about.

Health Services serves as a primary care clinic on campus for students enrolled in at least one in-person course. Students taking only online classes can access services by paying the medical services fee online through the UTA Marketplace, said Yvonne Medrano, associate director of Health Services. Office visits are free, though students must pay for lab tests, X-rays or medicine.

The health center offers wellness exams, minor urgent care for sudden illnesses and minor procedures such as stitches and toenail removal. Students can also access immunizations and gynecological services including well-woman exams, pap smears, birth control and menstrual health concerns, Medrano said.

The center also offers free testing for sexually transmitted infections twice a month during the fall and spring semesters.

The Maverick Activities Center provides one-on-one nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian on weight management, sports nutrition, healthy eating and more.

Personal training and fitness assessments are also available for students who want more individualized support, according to the Campus Recreation website.

The Student Access and Resource Center provides accommodations and assistive technology in academics, housing and campus life to support students with disabilities, according to its website. The center’s services include testing support, interpreters and emotional support and service animals.

Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital is a full-service hospital and Level III Trauma Center. It provides 24-hour emergency care, along with cardiology, stroke, women’s health and orthopedic services, according to the website. Students can rely on this facility for both emergencies and specialized treatment.

USMD Hospital at Arlington operates 24/7 emergency services and provides physician-led care. The hospital provides bariatric, orthopedic, gynecological, urological and neurosurgical procedures. It also offers on-site medical imaging, laboratory services, pain management, and women’s health services, according to its website.

CareNow Urgent Care Arlington provides walk-in care from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It provides more than 50 medical tests and exams such as X-rays, specific on-site lab testing, wellness exams and treatment for common illnesses and minor injuries, according to the website.
