Best movies in the Netflix top 10
‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ (2025)
“K-Pop Demon Hunters” has been such a smash hit this summer that this weekend, Netflix brought it to theaters for a limited-time sing-along event, similar to what Universal did for “Wicked” part one. Even if you don’t listen to much K-pop music (neither do I), you’ll have a blast with this one and probably get a song or two stuck in your head. Sony Pictures Animation has hit it out of the park yet again, proving why the studio behind the acclaimed “Spider-Verse” films is a force to be reckoned with in the animation world.
“K-Pop Demon Hunters” follows chart-topping idols Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo), musicians who protect the world from demons with their harmony when they’re not killing it on stage. But when a group of demons disguised as a rival boy band comes for the souls of their fans, they face their biggest challenge yet. The trio’s reputation and the fate of the world hang in the balance, but first they’ll have to conquer the battles raging within themselves.

‘Abandoned Man’ (2025)

If subtitles aren’t a dealbreaker for you or if you’re stronger than me and can somehow stomach live-action dubs (you maniac), “Abandoned Man” should be on your radar. After premiering on August 22, this Turkish drama wasted no time crashing Netflix’s charts. Directed by Çagri Vila Lostuvali and co-written by Deniz Madanoglu and Murat Uyurkulak, it stars Mert Ramazan Demir as Baran, a young man determined to start a new life after serving a lengthy prison sentence for a crime his brother committed.
But just as he’s getting his feet under him, tragedy strikes again. His brother and his wife get into a car accident that leaves Baran taking care of his niece, Lidya (Ada Erma). Through this bond, the walls he’s built up around his psyche begin to crack. His fight to protect her becomes tied to his own redemption, forcing him to face the ruins of his childhood and leading to a devastating revelation that threatens to reshape the course of his life.

‘Fall for Me’ (2025)

Another foreign language addition to Netflix this week, “Fall for Me” is a German erotic thriller set against the sun-soaked backdrop of Mallorca, Spain, that looks like the perfect summer popcorn fodder. A vacation to the island paradise takes a dark turn when two sisters, Lilli (Svenja Jung) and Valeria (Tijan Marei), get scammed by an enigmatic club owner.
Lilli is blindsided when her sister introduces her to her new French fiancé, Manu (“Emily in Paris” star Victor Meutelet). The couple plans to open a luxury bed-and-breakfast, but Valeria needs Lilli’s permission to sell the family property to make it happen. Sensing something off, Lilli begins digging into Manu’s past. Her search leads her to the aforementioned club owner, Tom (Theo Trebs), sparking a passionate romance that quickly spirals into dangerous territory. As their chemistry grows, so does the web of secrecy surrounding Tom’s sudden interest in the sisters’ property, until the truth inevitably claws its way to the surface.
