New Releases on Netflix This Week & Top 10 Movies & Series: December 13, 2025

Picture: MGM

Netflix has quietly stacked the deck this week, delivering a surprisingly robust mix of new arrivals just as we head deeper into the holiday season. Between a major Netflix Original debut, a divisive Ridley Scott spectacle landing via MGM, and Rowan Atkinson returning to familiar slapstick territory, there is plenty here, whether you are after comfort viewing or something a little more chaotic. Here are the standouts worth your time right now, followed by the full rundown of everything new on Netflix this week.

Just some housekeeping: Netflix unexpectedly dropped its January 2026 lineup to outlets earlier this week. The list is mostly complete on the Netflix Original side of things, but as we keep discovering, lots more goodies are coming up, so keep our guide bookmarked for the latest.

Now, onto the highlights!

What to Watch on Netflix This Weekend

Man Vs Baby (Season 1)

Number of episodes: 4
Rating: TV-PG
Language: English
Genre: Comedy, Family
Cast: Rowan Atkinson, Alanah Bloor, Claudie Blakley, Susannah Fielding, Robert Bathurst, Ellie White

Netflix’s Christmas lineup for this year has been a bit disappointing if you don’t get much enjoyment out of romantic comedies, given that the entire lineup has effectively only been holiday rom-coms. Thankfully, Rowan Atkinson’s return as Trevor Bingley goes some way toward correcting that, with the follow-up to Man vs. Bee arriving on Thursday.

The synopsis for the four-episode limited series reads, “As Christmas approaches, a blundering-all-the-way dad juggles housesitting a posh London penthouse with an unexpected pickle: caring for a lost baby.”

As I wrote in my review earlier in the week, the learner package packs plenty of laughs, smiles, and the occasional eye-roll. It’s not quite Rowan Atkinson at his absolute best, but I would still thoroughly recommend it if you’re looking for something Christmassy to watch.

House of Gucci (2021)

Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Biography, Crime, Drama
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino
Writer: Becky Johnston, Roberto Bentivegna, Sara Gay Forden
Runtime: 158 min / 2h 38m

As part of a new, expanded pact with Amazon’s MGM unit, we’re seeing a bunch of recent movies from the distributor land on Netflix for the first time and for a limited time. Among the two major MGM movies that dropped this week (the other being The Hustle, which is hard to recommend, honestly) is House of Gucci

What feels like a fever dream from start to finish, the movie documents the life of Patrizia Reggiani from her humble beginnings through to meeting Maurizio Gucci and her rise within the Gucci empire. There are moments (and one performance in particular – looking at the Mario impersonator) that will stay with you forever, and it’s an experience worth taking at least once. I can’t say you’ll enjoy it, but you certainly haven’t seen anything else like it.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

Rating: PG-13
Language: English
Genre: Comedy, Crime, Drama
Director: Rian Johnson
Cast: Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close
Writer: Rian Johnson
Runtime: 140 min / 2h 20m

It’s here. One of the biggest films in Netflix’s 2025 lineup has just dropped, marking the second Netflix-exclusive entry after the streamer poached Rian Johnson from Lionsgate to continue the Daniel Craig-led murder mystery franchise. This installment is easily the most ambitious yet, reuniting an all-star cast for a ride that feels like a roller coaster, while still delivering the familiar aha moments audiences have come to expect.

In our review, which we just refreshed upon its Netflix release, we gave it a four-star rating and will no doubt be one of our favorite movies of the year. We wrote:

“While Rian Johnson may have fewer questions and expectations this time around, Wake Up Dead Man answers to all of them anyway with one word: Undeniable. As he loves to name his films after massive rock bands’ deeper cuts (Radiohead, The Beatles, and now U2), I’ll describe him in these terms: he’s a hitmaker who saves his most radio-friendly tunes for his biggest stage. The Knives Out films continue to be the most consistently entertaining franchise going with a curious and thoughtful creator behind it all. Try to catch this one in theaters if you can. There’s nothing like the reactions and engagement that these films provide in a theater full of devoted fans of the franchise. Amen to that.”

I concur with Andrew’s review and would go a little bit further and rank them as follows: Wake Up Dead Man as number 1, the first Knives Out as number 2, and Glass Onion in third. It’s super close, though, and all three are definitely worthy of your time.
