Solo Leveling: Sung Jinwoo’s Powers and Abilities Explained

Solo Leveling’s Jinwoo has become the embodiment of the “Overpowered protagonist.” Whenever we hear the word “strong hero,” we always compare them with our beloved Hunter. However, one may wonder what exactly makes our leveling-up hero Jinwoo the strongest of all in the world of Solo Leveling. Well, let’s discuss Jinwoo’s powers and abilities in detail to get an answer to that question.

Spoilers Warning
This article contains heavy spoilers about the shadows of Sung Jinwoo. Thus, we highly suggest you to read the manhwa completely beforehand in order to avoid ruining your intended experience.

Sung Jinwoo’s Powers and Abilities

Jinwoo started out as an average human being who can’t even defeat a low-tier monster, let alone Monarch or Rulers. However, by the end of the manhwa, Jinwoo basically becomes a God. Every protagonist holds immense strength or speed, but Jinwoo has multiple powers and abilities in his arsenal. He not only transforms into the strongest Solo Leveling Hunter with these powers, but he also becomes the strongest being in the entire world.

1. Superhuman Strength

Being Sung II Hwan’s son, how can Jinwoo not be born with the immense physical strength that helped him damage the Statue of God before getting chosen by the System? However, the boy never really knew his true potential and spent his early days as one of the lowest-skilled E-ranked hunters.

After nearly getting killed in the double dungeon and getting chosen by the System, Jinwoo sees an immeasurable evolvement in his physical strength. Jinwoo’s strength was evidently strong when he fought Igris. Even though Igris was more experienced in battle, Jinwoo was able to overwhelm the other-world entity with his kicks and punches.

Another example of Jinwoo’s strength was his fight against enemies like Rakan and Antares. He defeated the Beast Monarch in just four punches. On the other hand, he was able to survive and even beat Antares, the strongest of Monarch, with his strength.

2. Lightning Fast Speed

Strength isn’t the only strong suit of Jinwoo, as the character also flaunts incredible speed. In the fight against Rakan, Jinwoo attacked at such a superhuman speed that even the Monarch couldn’t track the Hunter’s movements. Jinwoo is already faster than the speed of light (by the end of the manhwa), but the System allows the character to go even further by increasing his speed by 30%.

3. Incredible Regeneration Ability

With strength and speed comes Jinwoo’s incredible regeneration ability. The System allows him to regenerate and overcome his injuries at a godly speed. There are also multiple healing items in Jinwoo’s inventory that he can use during a battle to replenish his stamina or heal his body. Also, let’s not forget that Jinwoo is also immune to all forms of poison or illness, all thanks to Ashborn’s powers.

4. Incredible Fighting Skills

Jinwoo doesn’t have much experience in battle, but thanks to the System and his sheer will, the Hunter develops incredible fighting skills. Even before fully tapping into Ashborn’s powers, Jinwoo showed impressive fighting ability against Igris.

He very smarty adapted to new strategy while fighting the opponent. He knew exactly when to use his dagger to block Igris’ sword attacks, and even in hand-to-hand combat, the Hunter was able to see through the enemy’s movements.

Jinwoo realized that he’d have to fight a perfect balance between speed and strength to overcome Igris. Without even knowing his opponent and the extent of his abilities, Jinwoo was able to learn and adapt new fighting skills with his feet in the battle.

5. Gets Stronger After Every Fight

Of course, everyone grows stronger after training, but Jinwoo had an RPG system backing him up. After completing a Dungeon and leveling up, Jinwoo used the points to grow stronger. He assigned those points to his strength, speed, weapons, agility, intelligence, etc.

In short, the Hunter grows stronger after each completing each Guild or Gate. While there’s always a limit to how much a human can grow or learn, there is absolutely no limit to Jinwoo’s growth. He can basically become a God after exploiting the System to its full potential.

6. Access To Unlimited Weapons

The System allows Jinwoo to access an inventory of unlimited weapons. After completing each Guild or simply leveling up, Jinwoo can unlock new abilities and weapons. While our hero uses the points to increase his strength, speed, or other physical traits quite often, he also uses the points to unlock new weapons or healing items.

Guild maps, healing potions, and weapons such as the Knight Killer dagger are some of the items in Jinwoo’s inventory. And if that’s not enough, Jinwoo can also use the digital shop in the inventory to buy and sell items as per his needs. Also, he doesn’t need a physical bag to hold these items.

If Jinwoo is done using his dagger, he can just put that back in his inventory digitally in the blink of an eye.

7. Shadow Extraction

While many fear Shadows, Jinwoo embraces the darkness; in fact, he can use the Shadows to grow stronger. Jinwoo holds the power of Shadow Monarch, which allows him to mold the darkness to his liking. He can give physical form to Shadows. We have seen that when Jinwoo uses the Shadow to create a big armor, which also makes him look like Ashborn.

Jinwoo also flaunts the Shadow Extraction for this exact reason. Control over Shadows allows the Hunter to resurrect anyone he defeats. Interestingly, Jinwoo creates a massive Shadow army by defeating countless enemies and making them his minions. It all started with Igris, and later on, we see Jinwoo extracting Hwan Dong-Su’s Shadow and renaming it “Greed.” We have also ranked Sung Jinwoo’s shadows in a dedicated guide, so check it out right here.

That’s not it, though, as the control over Shadows allowed Jinwoo to swap places with his Shadows, or should we say teleport to a different location. If one of his Shadows is in the US and Jinwoo is in Korea, he can swap places with his Shadow and teleport to the US within a second.

8. A Being Beyond Time

By the end of the manhwa, Jinwoo achieves Acausality as well. It means that our beloved Hunter transcends time and space. We all know that time is like a fabric, and while for humans, time only flows in one direction, for supernatural entities, time isn’t a foundation at all.

For Jinwoo, there’s no past, present, and future. He exists in multiple timelines and will be unaffected if someone kills him by traveling to the past. Jinwoo will still exist in another timeline or future. In a sense, Jinwoo truly becomes immortal after achieving “Acausality.”

9. Complete Control Over Another Dimension

Jinwoo becomes a God by the end of the story, and that is evident from the fact that he gets control over another dimension. This dimension, called Territory of Eternal Rest, is infinite in size, and only Jinwoo can access it or bring someone there. In this dimension, Jinwoo can alter anything simply through a thought. Basically, he can shape this world to his own liking.

In the end, Sung Jinwoo becomes an immortal being who can’t be killed. On top of that, he becomes an Omnipotent being, proving that absolutely nobody is above him.
