Superman (2025) Cast: All Characters We’ve Seen So far

There were many talks regarding quality before Superman’s trailer was released. Now that it is out, it’s safe to say that James Gunn has delivered what he has been reinforcing since the trailer looks perfect and embodies what Superman has always stood for. However, even though the trailer was just a little more than 2 minutes, it had a shot featuring almost every character in the movie. So, let’s take a look at all the characters and cast we got to see and are confirmed to appear in Superman!
1. David Corenswet (Clark Kent/ Superman)
James Gunn made a massive decision for DCU by recasting Superman. He brought David Corenswet for the cast of Superman, giving him the mantle of one of the most powerful DC heroes.
Fans of Henry Cavill did not take this change very well. However, after the release of Superman’s trailer, it’s safe to say that Superman’s mantle has been passed off to a deserving actor. David’s Superman, by far looks to be the most accurate version of Superman and James Gunn deserves appreciation for what he has done.
Now, since the movie is not yet out, it would be too much to say Superman is going to be perfect but by the looks of it, the chances of this happening are very high.
2. Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane)

Not only Superman, but his romantic interest has been recast. In Superman, Rachel Brosnahan will be playing Lois Lane. Looking at the trailer, it’s confirmed that Lois is going to have a pretty significant role in the movie, just as she has always had when it comes to Superman. In the trailer itself, their chemistry seems so natural, and also, I must say Rachel looks as if Lois Lane has stepped right out of comic books, and pulling that off is absolutely commendable.
3. Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner/ Green Lantern)

Green Lantern has been out of the picture in DC for some time now. The last time we saw him was in 2011, played by Ryan Reynolds. The movie wasn’t received very well because it had many issues.
However, this time, Gunn is bringing back Green Lantern with the newest addition to the cast of Superman. Nathan Fillion will appear as the “Guy Gardner” version of Green Lantern.
If you don’t know Guy Gardner, he was the first human Green Lantern who was not chosen by the power ring but found it after it was discarded by the Guardians. He put on the ring and became the first Green Lantern.
As of now, we don’t know how much or for how long we are going to see Guy Gardner in the movie, but looking at the trailer, it seems that his role is going to be pretty significant in the entire plot of Superman.
4. Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl)

Superman will bring us the live-action version of Hawkgirl for the first time. For this never-before-seen role, Isabela Merced has been cast by James Gunn. Now we don’t know which version of Hawkgirl she will be playing. In DC comics, three women have been Hawkgirl, namely Shiera Hall, Shayera Hol, and Kendra Saunders, so we will have to wait till July 11, 2025, to find out which version of the character we are going to witness here.

One of the most unexpected characters to join the cast of Superman was Metamorpho. I, for one, did not expect him to be presented in live-action anytime soon, but well, here we are. Anthony Carrigan has been cast as Metamorpho or Rex Mason for the brand-new DCU.
Metamorpho is a superhero who made his first appearance in January 1965 in the comic run of The Brave and the Bold #57. If we talk about his superpowers, Metamorpho can transform his body into a wide variety of elemental compounds and shape it in any form he desires. Initially, he was only able to work with elements found in the human body, but in his later appearances, this limitation of his was lifted.
6. Edi Gathegi (Michael Holt/ Mr. Terrific)

Like most DC characters, Mr. Terrific is also just a human who has peak physical capabilities and is listed as one of the most intelligent men in the world. In the brand new DCU, Edi Gathegi has been made a part of the cast of Superman as Mr. Terrific.
Mr. Terrific made his comic debut in the year 1997 with Spectre (vol. 3) #54 and does not possess any superpowers. He is assisted by his exceptional investigative skills, peak physical capabilities, and a black belt in six different disciplines of martial arts, and the gadgets built for him by his company, Terrifictech, to help him as a hero. We did not get to see a lot of him in the trailer, except a few clips, but his suit looks phenomenal.
7. Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen)

Jimmy Olson is one of the few people who know about the identity of Superman. He is Clark’s best friend (after Batman, of course). Speaking of Batman, I would like to mention that Batman for Gunn’s DCU has not yet been cast, and I’d say they better take their time with it to give someone a legacy carried on for so long by a huge list of talented Batman actors.
However, Jimmy often helps Superman by being his guy in the chair. When Superman is not with the Justice League or working at Daily Planet, Jimmy and Clark often enjoy eating burgers at Superman’s favorite fast food joint, Big Belly Burgers. Superman made Jimmy a timepiece that acts as a beacon if Jimmy is ever in need of Superman’s help.
8. Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor)

One of the biggest revelations for the cast of Superman is Nicholas Hoult in the role of Lex Luthor, the archnemesis of Superman. This role is a pretty huge responsibility to play, considering the legacy left behind by Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and Jesse Eisenberg, and looking at him in the trailer, it feels like Nicholas Hoult is going to do pretty well.
However, I did not find the performance of Jesse Eisenberg to be that comic-accurate. If you look at it from the perspective of acting, he did a good job, but if you look at it from the POV of Lex Luthor, his version lacked that charm. What do you think? Let me know in the comments section.
9. Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.)

The latest trailer of Superman also revealed the the movie will feature Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. In the trailer, we see that Rick Flag Sr., Ultraman, and The Engineer have taken Superman into custody. It seems like they did so because Superman stopped a war in a foreign country without an approval from the United States.
We also got to see Flag in the recently released trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 and there is a good chance that by the end of this movie, he will be promoted to the head of ARGUS. So, let’s wait and see what happens.
10. Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher)

Sara Sampaio will be appearing in Superman as Eve Teschmacher. This casting was confirmed by none other than James Gunn back in 2023. Now, looking at the new trailer for Superman, we have the first look at her character.
Eve Teschmacher usually appears as an assistant to Lex Luthor, but in some stories, we get to see her as Luthor’s girlfriend as well. One can argue that she should be fired for fraternising at work. But, who will fire her since her boss is Luthor himself. By the looks of the trailer, it seems that her role will be somewhat of a comic relief character, but we can’t say anything for sure as of now.
11. Sean Gunn (Maxwell Lord)

Sean Gunn is that one actor who appears in virtually every movie James Gunn makes and now, he is confirmed to be a part of Gunn’s brand new DCU. Gunn confirmed early on that Sean will play Maxwell Lord in the DCU.
Even though we didn’t get to see him as Maxwell Lord in the trailer, it is cetain that he will appear in the movie based on the logo seen on the costumes of Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific’s costume as well as his appearance in the first official trailer of Peacemaker Season 2.
12. Pruitt Taylor Vince (Jonathan Kent)

Considering that Superman is not an origin movie, it was somewhat of a surprise that Superman’s parents are a part of the movie. It is confirmed that Pruitt Taylor Vince will appear in Superman as Pa Kent or Jonathan Kent.
This casting was revealed on April 16, 2024, via The Wrap, but this time around, it seems that Pa Kent is around instead of being Dead. So, let’s wait and see how DC handles this change in the story. Talking about the actor, Pruitt Taylor Vince has appeared in multiple popular TV shows and movies such as The Walking Dead, The X-Files, Jacob’s Ladder, and Bird Box, and now, he has become a part of the Superman 2025 cast.
13. Terence Rosemore (Otis)

Terence Rosemore is set to appear as another unexpected character. It was revealed back in 2024 when James Gunn revealed a picture of the Superman cast that Terence would appear as Otis in the movie.
Otis made his debut in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies as one of the henchmen of Lex Luthor and was then incorporated in the comic books, and then appeared in Smallville, and is now set to appear in Superman.
This would not be the first time Terence Rosemore has worked on a superhero flick, since he has multiple credits to his name in other James Gunn movies. He has previously appeared as a side character in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and was even seen in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad. So, this is not his first feat with DC.
14. Neva Howell (Martha Kent)

The first teaser for Superman revealed the involvement of Pa Kent in Superman, but the newly released clip gave us the first look at Martha Kent in the upcoming Superman movie. Martha Kent is being played by Neva Howell, whose casting was once again revealed in 2024.
Now, bringing in the right Martha Kent is key to any Superman movie, and I believe that Neva Howell will fit perfectly in this role, considering her experience in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, where she appeared as “Farmer Lady.” So, let’s wait and see how things work out.
15. Beck Bennett (Steve Lombard)

Now, while most people at The Daily Planet are friends with Clark Kent, there are a few who are unaware of who he is and take advantage of his innocent nature to pull pranks on Clark. One such person at the Daily Bugle is Steve Lombard, who will be played by Beck Bennett. In the comics, Steve Lombard is a sports journalist and also has a history of being a sports person. Even though he consistently pulls pranks on Clark, Steve considers him one of his best friends, but whether Clark shares the same feelings is debatable.
16. Mikaela Hoover (Catherine Grant)

Mikaela Hoover is set to appear as another journalist named Catherine Grant in Superman. In the comics, she looks after the gossip section of The Daily Planet and even dated Clark for a while, but eventually, Clark ended up with Lois Lane and got married to her. As far as her role in the upcoming movie is concerned, there is a good chance that she will probably turn out to be a supporting character.
17. Christopher McDonald (Ronald Troupe)

Christopher McDonald is set to appear as Ron Troupe in Superman, which is probably the first time this character will appear in live action. In DC Comics, Roland Troupe was an aspiring journalist who had been rejected by The Daily Planet but continued to attempt to get in. When Doomsday attacked Superman and apparently killed him, Clark Kent was declared missing, and Ron was hired to fill his position. However, in the upcoming Superman movie, it seems that he will be more like a supporting character.
18. Alan Tudyk In an Unknown Role

One of the most mysterious cast members of Superman 2025 is Alan Tudyk. There is no information regarding who he will play in the movie, however, he has already voiced the character of Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos.
Since James Gunn had already confirmed that the voice actors will play the same character in live action, fans speculate that Alan Tudyk will appear as Doctor Phosphorus in Superman. His role is being kept under wraps, nothing can be said with certainty as of now, so we will have to wait till the movie is released to find out who he will play.
19. Wendell Pierce (Perry White)

James Gunn has found his Perry White for the DCU. Perry White is the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, where Clark Kent works as a reporter. This character has been a titular part of DC comics for decades and has been played by several actors throughout time.
The first actor to play Perry White was Pierre Watkin back in 1948, and the most recent one was Laurence Fishburne, appearing in Man of Steel (2013) and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and now, in the rebooted DCU, Wendell Pierce is going to take over this role.
20. María Gabriela De Faría (Angie Spica/ The Engineer)

The Engineer is making a first-time live-action appearance. This is a mantle wielded by two characters, and the second one is Angie Spica, who María Gabriela De Faría will play. If you don’t know who this is, Angie Spica is a brilliant scientist who injected herself with nanites, and it gave her the ability to control all things tech.
The new Superman cast looks pretty good, and looking at the new trailer, I can be certain that they are going to do a great job playing their respective characters. This list contains all the characters that have been announced to date, and we will keep you updated with any new announcements that come up for the Superman 2025 cast.
David Corenswet is playing the role of Superman.
Nicolas Hoult is playing Lex Luthor in Superman.
Skyler Gisondo is playing Jimmy Olsen in Superman.
