Telangana pushes medical tourism, mega summit in June

Hyderabad: Telangana government is all set to pitch Hyderabad as a global medical tourism destination.

Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha said Telangana will host the International Medical Tourism Event in June. It will boost the state’s healthcare sector.

During a high-level review meeting held at the Secretariat with Health and Tourism department officials, the Minister emphasized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision to make Hyderabad a world-class medical hub. He directed officials to coordinate with the Tourism department to ensure the event’s success.

Global Outreach and Infrastructure

The June event will feature key stakeholders from the domestic and international medical and pharmaceutical sectors. Representatives from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East are expected to be

invited. As part of the initiative, international delegates will visit both corporate hospitals and premier government institutions such as NIMS, TIMS, Osmania, and Gandhi Hospital.

Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha further directed that “International Patient Service” wings, each with a 50-bed capacity, be established in the three upcoming TIMS hospitals. He noted that attracting international patients to government hospitals will generate significant revenue, which will be reinvested to improve local healthcare infrastructure and services for the general public.

Nurse’s appointment on May 12

The meeting also addressed ongoing recruitment drives. The Minister instructed officials to distribute appointment orders to 2,322 newly selected nursing officers on May 12, coinciding with International Nurses Day.

Regarding the recruitment of Assistant Professors, the department confirmed that the process would be completed within 20 days, with results expected by June 15.

The Minister also ordered the immediate resolution of legal hurdles delaying the recruitment of pharmacists and Multi-Purpose Health Assistants (MPHA-Female).

He highlighted that the government has filled approximately 12,650 health sector positions posts over the past two years, significantly strengthening the state’s medical workforce.
