So, if you are curious about the said organization, keep reading as we explain what is the Black Rose organization and its origins in the League of Legends lore.
Spoiler Warning: This post includes heavy spoilers for the Arcane animated series and League of Legends.
Who Are the Black Rose in Arcane?
After watching season 1, our only concerns on the antagonist side were Jinx and the rest of Silco’s supporters from Zaun. However, season 2 of Arcane introduced us to Black Rose, a new secret evil organization that the League of Legends fandom has been waiting and expecting to make its debut.
They have officially set foot in Piltover and are ready to take over. So, if you are wondering who are they? and what do they want? So, according to the League of Legends lore, Black Rose is a syndicate operating from the shadows in Noxus (where Ambessa and Mel hail from), and Leblanc is the most popular member and leader of this group of, well, witches.
If you have seen other popular works involving politics such as Game of Thrones, Dune, One Piece, and more, it will be easy for you to understand how this organization works. The Black Rose consists of several people who operate from the Immortal Bastion and secretly pull the strings when it comes to Noxus politics.
Therefore, they are the people responsible for ruling and shaping the history of Noxus secretly. It is also mentioned that this group was founded even before the Noxian empire was built.
The Ultimate Goal of Black Rose Organization
As per the League of Legends lore, the ultimate goal of the Black Rose is to covertly promote the goals of the people who can perform the hidden magic (aka the Arcane). Thus, in this process, there are no holds barred for them as they manipulate and do all kinds of trickery to achieve and conquer their dreams. The members of this organization are extremely powerful and can trick anyone with their shapeshifting powers.
Moreover, they are well-versed in witchcraft, as we just saw in the show. Their power play isn’t just limited within Noxus as they extend to all over the LoL-verse. This must be why they’ve finally made their way to Piltover along with Ambessa in Arcane Season 2.
Black Rose’s Actions in the Arcane Series
In season 2, Amara, a member of Piltover’s Merchant Guild turns out to be a part of the Black Rose organization as their assassin. As of now, it is unclear whether it is the real Amara or another agent of the organization transforming as her. She confirmed that Piltover was within their reach and they were the ones responsible for the murder of Ambessa’s son.
They certainly knew Ambessa’s goals, i.e. getting Hextech weapons, for traveling to Piltover, and wanted to put an end to them. She also remarked “What you’ve (Ambessa) stolen is more precious than any gold” and we are not sure about what is in Ambessa’s possession at the moment.
In the last moments of episode 3, the Black Rose kidnapped Ambessa’s daughter Mel Medarda using a thorn-like black rose domain. Now, we need to wait a week to learn more about their actions in the remaining acts of the final season.
That said, what do you think about this new secret witch syndicate in Arcane Season 2? Let us know in the comments below.
