Washington Pharmacy Company Pays $132,000 Settlement, $25,000 Fine for Illegitimate Ozempic | KCII Radio

Washington-based pharmaceutical company SmartScripts paid over $132,000 to Michigan-based Central Pharmacy Management (CPM) following a settlement last month, court records show.

According to the initial filing by CPM, SmartScripts was accused of selling illegitimate Ozempic to CPM. An officer for the Food and Drug Administration notified CPM that the drugs were counterfeit and ordered them to cease sales of the drugs.

In the settlement, SmartScripts agreed to repay PCM the $132,249.46 it charged for the Ozempic plus interest and court costs, which brought the total to $132,873.60. SmartScripts completed payment on October 28.

In August, SmartScripts also received penalties from the Iowa Board of Pharmacy in the form of a $25,000 fine and a five-year probation period on its license.courtscourt
