Where Was The Penguin Filmed? Answered

The Penguin features Batman’s most significant enemy at the forefront, and Colin Farrell continues to make the DC character a success with each episode. We aren’t unfamiliar with the hype the show created before its debut on HBO, and there’s no denying it is living up to it. The Penguin picked up from where Robbert Pattinson’s The Batman left things off, but do you know that the Farell starrer series wasn’t shot at the same place where the 2022 film was filmed? We understand your curiosity about the filming locations of The Penguin. If you’re wondering where was The Penguin filmed, here’s the answer.

The Penguin Was Filmed in New York City

Several TV shows and films feature the fictional world of Gotham, but not all of them have been shot in the same location. For instance, the City we saw in The Dark Knight was shot in Chicago, Illinois. At the same time, The Dark Knight Rises filming locations include Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, California, New York City, and Pennslyvania.

2022’s The Batman flaunted locations such as Glasgow, London, Chicago, and Liverpool. Now that The Penguin kickstarts after a few days of Pattinson’s Batman, fans may think that the series was shot in the exact locations, but let me tell you that it’s not the case as the Gotham featured in The Penguin has been shot in New York City.

While all the outdoor shooting was done in different locations across New York City, the interiors were filmed at the Silvercup Studios, NY’s most popular filming facility.

We have listed down the locations in New York City where The Penguin has been filmed:

  • 27th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues
  • 2335 12th Avenue in West Harlem
  • Williamsburg Bridge tower
  • La Selva Villa (Falcone Residence)
  • Gramercy Park
  • Kew Gardens train station
  • Chinatown, South Bronx, Yonkers
  • Seneca Avenue station in Queens
  • Hewes Street station

The filming of The Penguin wasn’t smooth initially, as there were many delays due to the SAG-AFTRA Strikes in 2023. However, eventually, the filmmakers overcame these setbacks and gave us one of the best shows in HBO history.
