10 New Movies to Stream This Weekend on Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video (August 17 – 18)

The weekend is here and with that, it’s time for us to bring you a brand new watchlist that you can either binge or choose one or two movies as per your wish. So, kick back, relax, get yourself a nice bowl of popcorn, and choose from the 10 best movies to stream on Netflix, prime, Hulu, and HBO that you can watch!

1. The Garfield Movie

If you are a cat person, you already know about the reputation orange cats have, however, for a very long time, Garfield has been the crown prince of orange cast-ness. Now, after quite a long time, he is back on screen with an animated flick that is bound to give you a good and fun time be it with yourself or with your family and friends. So, if you are planning on watching something this weekend, The Garfield movie is a no-brainer.

2. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

A prequel to the highly acclaimed 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga brings in the story of Furiosa previously seen in the 2015 movie however, the role of Furiosa in this movie is being played by Anya Taylor Joy while in Fury Road, it was played by Charlize Theron. Even though this movie did not do well at The Box Office, the ratings tell us that Mad Max Furiosa is actually a good movie. Well, I won’t ask you to build your opinion based on mine, so go ahead and let me know what you feel about the movie in the comments!

3. Lolo and The Kid

If you are into lifetime movies Lolo and the Kid is a movie that will is really a speedrun to getting yourself to tear up. This movie revolves around a young kid who is taken in by an old man named Lolo. They make it their routine to con the rich and lead a fun and happy life with each other. However, soon some opportunities present themselves in front of the kid that could bring their inseparable bond to an end.

4. Jackpot

If you are looking forward to watching something fun and action-packed, Jackpot is a movie that will serve you just right. This movie takes us to the future where The US Economy has gone through another Great Depression and to cope up with it, the State of California has started a lottery but there’s a catch. If someone manages to kill the winner before sundown they get to keep all the money.

Kim, a newcomer to the city, accidentally registers herself on the lottery and luckily becomes the winner. Now, she has to run for her life while Nolan, a protection agent tries to save her from being killed. This movie is an absolutely fun watch that you should really not miss out on.

5. Immaculate

Immaculate revolves around Daria, a young Drug addict who goes into rehab. However, what she thought to be something that will change her life, turns out to be something that will change her life as soon as she steps out of Rehab. This movie is a thought-provoking flick that might not turn out to be everyone’s taste. So, if you are someone who wants to watch something different, Immaculate is a movie you can give a shot.

6. Accidental Texan

After Harward educated Ervin Vandeveer, an aspiring actor absolutely messes up his first big role in a movie, he gets stranded in Buffalo Gap, Texas as his car breaks down while returning home. Hiwl being stranded, he is taken under the wing of Merle Luskey, an almost bankrupt oil driller. He sees Ervin as someone who can help him outwit the bank, and corrupt sheriffs and pay his dues before he loses everything. This movie is fun, wholesome, and has its moments so if you wish to watch something wholesome and family-friendly, Accidental Texan is a movie you can check out.

7. Night Swim

If you wish to check out something from the horror genre, Night Swim has just been added to Prime Video and might just be the flick you need this weekend. This movie revolves around a retired baseball player named Ray Waller, who had to get into retirement because of a disease. So, he and his family they move into a new house with a beautiful pool in the backyard looking for a fresh start. However, strange occurrences start taking place in their lives branching out of that very pool and now, they need to figure out what it is that’s after their lives.

8. The Union

Mike is a hardworking, down-to-earth construction worker who one day runs into his high school sweetheart, Roxanne. However, what he thought to be pure luck, turns out to be Roxxane’s plan to get Mike to London and recruit him in a high-stakes mission that could save the lives of other on-duty agents. This movie is a perfect action and comedy with subtle notes of romance. so, if all of this sounds like something you’ll dig, The Union is now available on Netflix to stream!

9. The Legend of Tarzan

We have all seen and heard the story of Tarzan a hundred times, a young boy, left in the jungles of Africa who was raised by apes. Later on, he falls in love with a woman named Jane Foster and leaves the jungle to go to London with her. The Legend of Tarzan brings us to what happened after this. This movie takes us to a Tarzan who now lives in London with Jane. However, as fate has it, he has to return to the African jungles to stop the atrocities being carried out by a wicked man and save the place that raised him.

10. Smile

Smile is one of those horror films that does not just scare you but creeps you out in ways that stay with you. This movie revolves around a Psychiatrist named Dr. Rose Cotter. She herself is a victim of childhood trauma and drowns herself in her work to overcome it. One day, she gets a new patient named Laura who she initially thinks to be delusional. However, after she starts treating Laura, unexplainable and creepy things start happening to her and the only way to make it stop is to look her past in the eye and face it head-on.
