Google’s Nano Banana is a genuinely excellent photo editing tool. Whether you want to turn a selfie into a professional headshot or “try on” a hairstyle before you make it permanent, it has some seriously impressive capabilities. Plus, it actually remembers what it creates.
Now, that might sound a bit obvious — but even the best AI image generators, such as Midjourney, or even ChatGPT, don’t do the same. They treat every new prompt like you’re starting over. The fact that Nano Banana has this memory makes it infinitely better for iterative editing.
You can tweak specific details without touching the rest of the image. Keep a character’s face consistent while changing everything around them. Combine multiple photos into something new. All without writing paragraph-long prompts explaining every detail.

To try out Gemini Nano-Banana’s photo editing powers, you’ll need to log in and attach or create a base image.
To do this, simply click the plus button, attach your photo, and you’re ready to go. From there, type your prompt into the chat box and hit the arrow icon to generate.

Start with a base image and make iterative changes while Nano Banana preserves the core likeness. You can alter outfits, poses, lighting, or entire backgrounds while the subject remains recognizably the same person or character.
