Microsoft is in the process of adding several new capabilities to Copilot in a continued effort to make it more competitive with other chatbots, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
In this wave of updates, the company is announcing at least eight new features to improve Copilot’s intelligence and make it more useful in your daily life on Windows 11, Android, and iOS (with the mobile app). These features include Memory, Actions, Vision, Pages, Podcasts, Shopping, Deep Research, and Search.
Copilot new features
These are the new features that Microsoft is adding to Copilot.
1. Memory
With the new Memory feature, Copilot will now be able to remember things about you, such as interests, important details (like your birthday, favorite food, types of movies, etc.), and preferences. This will allow the chatbot to generate more accurate responses for assistance, recommendations, and advice.
The idea with Memory is for every person to have a unique assistant.
You can always enable, manage, and disable the feature.
2. Actions
As the name implies, Actions is a feature that allows Copilot to perform specific tasks completely automated on your behalf. Some of these actions include shopping for deals, making a reservation at a restaurant, buying tickets, and more.
The feature works by Copilot using the web services to contact different entities on your behalf. According to Microsoft, this feature will work on most websites, but the company is also partnering with other companies to make the experience even easier.
Some of these partners include 1-800-Flowers.com, Booking.com, Expedia, Kayak, OpenTable, Priceline, Tripadvisor, Skyscanner, Viator, and Vrbo.
3. Vision
Vision in Copilot isn’t new since it’s already available on the web, but now, it’s coming to Windows 11, iOS, and Android.
On Windows 11, Copilot Vision allows you to share your screen with the chatbot to get assistance with virtually anything you’re doing. For example, if you’re on an application, you can ask the chatbot to help you perform a specific action or task.
On mobile devices, you will use Vision with your camera. Just point the camera to anything, and Copilot will be able to understand the scene or object to provide different tips.
For example, if you point the camera to a plant, you will get tips on how to take care of it. If you point it to a living room, you will get decoration tips.
4. Deep Research
The Deep Research feature allows Copilot to connect with Bing to analyze documents or sources and generate detailed insights.
This feature is similar to a search with AI, but you can perform more complex and multi-step research tasks.
It’s particularly useful when you need clear, well-structured answers grounded in credible information for in-depth exploration of complex topics, nuanced perspectives, and detailed problem-solving.
It’s important not to confuse “Deep Research” with “Think Deeper.” While both modes enhance Copilot’s capabilities, Think Deeper focuses on advanced reasoning and problem-solving for complex queries, whereas Deep Research is tailored for thorough investigations and synthesis of information across multiple sources.
5. Pages
The Pages feature on Copilot is a new way to brainstorm and organize your content.
The feature can grab your notes, content, and research, and put them on a clean canvas to streamline your workflow to the final draft.
6. Podcasts
Although Copilot has had the Podcasts feature for some time, it can create audio content based on your interests or specific content, such as vacation plans, real estate recommendations, or the latest research.
Podcats is a straightforward feature that makes it ideal for listening while multitasking at work. You can even interact with Copilot to get more information about a specific topic.

7. Search
Although Bing already provides AI-powered search results, Microsoft is also bringing the next generation of web searches to Copilot, similar to the experience available on ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode.
When you perform a web search with Copilot, the chatbot will perform a search with Bing, grab the information, and create comprehensive responses with citations to sources with suggestions for further information.
It’s like landing on a web page that provides a complete answer to the query and includes links to the sources of the information.

8. Shopping
The Shopping feature in Copilot has been designed to be your personal shopping assistant. It can help you research and compare products, track prices, and even complete a purchase from the Copilot app.
These features are available now, but they’re rolling out gradually, meaning it can take weeks and months to reach everyone. You can access Copilot on the web, through the mobile app, or the dedicated app for Windows 11.
