Shane Black’s “Play Dirty” has seemingly proven to be another solid Prime Video crime thriller, as this action-packed new arrival has remained one of the streamer’s most popular watches since it debuted on the streaming service on October 1, 2025.
This new watch is based on the “Parker” book series penned by Richard Stark, and sees the expert thief (played by Wahlberg) plotting the biggest heist of his life. Alongside Grofield (LaKeith Stanfield), Zen (Rosa Salazar), and a skilled crew, he goes after a huge score that pits him against members of the New York mob.
If you enjoyed the Prime Video action thriller and you’re looking to stream some more movies similar to “Play Dirty,” and where you can stream them (at the time of writing).
‘Deep Cover’
Watch On
I’m kicking off the list with another Prime Video crime thriller. Even if it leans a little further into the comedy territory than “Play Dirty,” Tom Kingsley’s fast-paced improv comedy romp is still worth shouting about here.
“Deep Cover” introduces us to improv teacher Kat (Bryce Dallas Howard). She’s not in the best place in life, but that changes when she’s presented with a lucrative opportunity courtesy of an undercover cop (Sean Bean). He wants her to put her improv skills to the test by pretending to be a dangerous delinquent to infiltrate London’s underworld. She takes the assignment and brings two of her students (Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed) along for the ride, to frequently hilarious results.

‘Inside Man’

Watch On
If you’re in the mood for a gritty watch, you could opt for “Inside Man,” Spike Lee’s 2006 bank heist/hostage situation movie. This smart, twisting thriller revolves around three people: ingenious criminal, Dalton Russell (Clive Owen), tough hostage negotiator, Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington), and bank “fixer,” Madeleine White (Jodie Foster).
When Dalton’s gang seizes control of a Manhattan bank and takes those inside hostage, Keith is put in touch with their head robber, Russell. But this already stressful situation is further strained when the bank’s chairman sends in Madeleine White to try and protect the contents of a safety deposit box held within.

‘Ocean’s Eleven’ (2001)

Watch On
If you liked the heist work in “Play Dirty,” then you might want to sit down in front of “Ocean’s Eleven” next. Steven Soderbergh’s slick crime caper sees charismatic criminal Danny Ocean (George Clooney) orchestrating a daring new scheme: to carry out the biggest casino heist ever.
His plan? To rob three Las Vegas casinos — The Bellagio, The Mirage, and the MGM Grand — at the same time. To do so, he assembles a crack team of 11 criminals, and we get the thrill of following along as this grand heist plays out.

‘The Italian Job’ (2003)

Watch On
If you want another Mark Wahlberg-led watch, F. Gary Gray’s “The Italian Job” (not the 1969 original with Michael Caine) is worth a look.
Here, we follow fixer Charlie Croker (Wahlberg), who hatches a plan to go after a former associate. A year ago, Steve (Edward Norton) double-crossed Charlie and the rest of their gang after a successful mission in Venice, running off with a huge load of gold bullion they’d stolen from Italian gangsters and leaving his team high and dry. Seeking revenge, he assembles a team of his own to go after Steve and steal the gold away from him.

‘The Nice Guys’

Watch On
I couldn’t talk about a new Shane Black movie and not recommend “The Nice Guys,” his brilliantly entertaining 2016 action-comedy with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling; it’s such a fun watch.
This noir-ish comedy throws us back in time to 1970s Los Angeles, wherein our duo — down-on-his-luck PI Holland March (Gosling) and hard-edged private eye/enforcer, Jackson Healy (Crowe) — cross paths and are forced to team up as they search for a missing girl and investigate the mysterious death of an adult film star. It’s a solid detective story, but thrives first and foremost as a buddy comedy thanks to the excellent comedic chemistry the duo shares; I’m still waiting for some sort of sequel.
