Medak: Anti-Corruption Bureau Telangana (ACB) on Friday raided the District Government Hospital in Medak and unearthed irregularities in medical reimbursement bills
During the inspection, ACB Medak Range officials detected several procedural lapses and record-keeping irregularities in the medical reimbursement section and other administrative areas.
Officials found that mandatory registers were not properly maintained, several medical reimbursement bills were pending for months, and attendance discrepancies involving outsourcing staff were noticed.
The ACB said a detailed report would be submitted to the government recommending action against those responsible.
Irregularities in medical reimbursement bills
Officials found that the outward register in the medical reimbursement section was updated only up to January 5, 2026, indicating lapses in documentation practices.
According to the inward register, the hospital received 1,053 medical reimbursement bills between March 2025 and March 5, 2026. Of these, 529 bills were processed and disbursed, while the remaining bills are still pending with the hospital superintendent.
The ACB also observed that sanctioned reimbursement bills, which must normally be forwarded to the concerned Heads of Departments, were instead being issued individually without maintaining a proper register.
Lack of proper records for MLC cases
The inspection also revealed deficiencies in the maintenance of records related to Medico-Legal Cases (MLC). A total of 156 MLC cases were registered during January and February 2026, but the hospital failed to maintain a proper register showing how many certificates were issued in those cases.
Drug purchases under verification
The ACB officials further noted that the hospital had entered into an agreement with local pharmacy vendors on March 10, 2025, for the procurement of medicines and other medical items.
Since then, purchases amounting to ₹50.87 lakh have been made. Officials stated that the procurement process and related documentation are currently under verification.
Outsourcing staff attendance discrepancies
During the inspection, the attendance of six outsourcing employees was found marked as present despite them being absent from duty. The matter is also being verified by the ACB.
Report to government
Following the findings, the ACB said it will submit a report to the government recommending appropriate action against officials responsible for the irregularities.
ACB helpline for complaints
The bureau urged the public to report any demand for bribes by government officials through its toll-free helpline 1064.
Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp (9440446106) or via its social media platforms, with assurance that the complainant’s identity will be kept confidential.
