Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court asking for legal protection over his personality and publicity rights. He wants courts to restrain websites and platforms from using his name, image, voice, performances, or likeness without his permission.

Some of the specific concerns in his plea are:
* The misuse of his persona and images by online marketplaces selling unauthorized merchandise.
* Creation and circulation of fake or AI-generated content (deepfakes) featuring him.
* Sexually explicit or “vulgar/distasteful” content being made and distributed using his identity without consent.
During the hearing, Justice Tejas Karia observed that if Abhishek’s lawyers provide a list of specific URLs (web addresses) that contain infringing content, the court can direct platforms like Google to take them down. “We will pass the order,” said the court.
The court has scheduled further hearing of Abhishek’s case for January 15, 2026. This move comes a day after his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, filed a similar case seeking protection against misuse of her image and AI-generated content. Recently, fans and actors have come across several Ai-generated pictures created by media and meme pages for engagement, which is both morally and ethically wrong.
