The Blade release date has been a big talking point for several years now. The reboot was originally announced in 2019 with Mahershala Ali in the eponymous role. It is also because Kevin Feige confirmed that the film was in development at a recent press interview in Marvel’s Burbank HQ.
Alternatively, if Blade doesn’t get the 2027 release, the film might premiere in 2028.

The most recent update about Blade comes from Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige.
In his interview with the press at Marvel’s Burbank HQ, Feige revealed that there were four versions of the project being developed. Out of these four, two were period pieces — set in the 1930s. Ultimately, Feige and the creatives decided to set the film in modern times. “We landed on modern day and that’s what we’re focusing on,” the MCU creator stated.
Moreover, Feige explained Blade’s numerous development problems. “We didn’t want to put a leather outfit on [Ali] and have him start killing vampires,” he shared.
He elaborated on his comment, noting that they could generally “start and have a good script” and “make it a great script through production.” However, they weren’t confident about pursuing that process for Blade. “We didn’t want to do that to Mahershala and didn’t want to do that to us,” Feige added.
Blade’s plot is unknown as of this writing, due to the film still being in development. Mahershala Ali is expected to star as the eponymous protagonist. Mia Goth is also reportedly still attached to the project as Lilith. Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre were previously part of the project, but left in 2024.
