Build 27858 for Windows 11 drops in the Canary Channel

Windows 11 build 27858 is now rolling out to users with devices enrolled in the Canary Channel. After several weeks of waiting, this update only adds a new option to open the Emoji panel from the Taskbar and pushes several fixes.

Taskbar with Emoji access

According to the official changes, Windows 11 build 27858 updates the Taskbar settings page with a new option to add or remove the button to access the Emoji panel from the Taskbar. The setting even includes an option to make the Emoji button available only when typing.

File Explorer changes

As part of the changes for File Explorer on Windows 11, when changing the text scaling size from the “Text size” settings page from the “Accessibility” section, it will also change the text size for the different dialogs, including copy, save, open, and save.

Desktop icons changes

On the desktop, the icons no longer show a colored background, and the icons should now be bigger and easier to see.

Mouse pointer customization

Although the company didn’t mention it (via @PhantomOfEarth), this release also pushes the “Customize pointer image” settings on the “Mouse pointer and touch” page to allow changing icons for each state of the pointer.
