Vehicles recalled: 2019-2020 Cadillac CT6, 2020-2021 Cadillac CT4 and CT5, and 2020-2022 Chevrolet Camaro vehicles.
The problem: A fluid leak may cause internal damage to the 10-speed automatic transmission in these vehicles. This could cause the wheels to momentarily lock, increasing the likelihood of a crash.
The fix: Cadillac and Chevrolet dealerships will provide a free software update designed to detect excessive wear to the transmission. If wear is determined, the vehicle will be limited to fifth gear as the top gear, and a service engine light will display in the instrument panel, prompting the owner to take the car in for service.
How to contact the manufacturer: Owners may call Cadillac at 800-333-4223 or Chevrolet at 800-222-1020.
NHTSA campaign number: 25V148. General Motor’s number for this recall is N242480630.
