DeWalt Battery Mowers Recalled for a Laceration Hazard

The recall: It involves four models of DeWalt battery walk-behind mowers, all of which have a 21-inch cutting deck. The models are the DCMWP234U2 and DCMWP600X2 push mowers and the DCMWSP256U2 and DCMWSP650Y2 self-propelled mowers.

The risk: If water gets into the mower’s handle support while the battery is installed, the mower can fail to shut off when the bail handle is released or it might start without a key, posing a laceration hazard to the user.

Incidents/injuries: There have been 10 reports of the problem.

How many: About 46,200 mowers in the U.S. and about 9,600 mowers in Canada.

Where and when sold: Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, and other stores nationwide and at the websites of those retailers from January 2024 through July 2024 for $530 to $750.

The remedy: Stop using a recalled mower if the machine has gotten wet and contact DeWalt to receive a free repair at an authorized service center.
