Electric vehicles are clearly the future of transportation, or they are at least the next step. The government has been creating more and more incentives to make the switch to electric vehicles. To this end, the EPA released a list of every vehicle in the U.S. eligible for a $7,500 tax credit.

The government has also been trying to incentivize American production, meaning that electric vehicles have to be built in the United States to be eligible. High-end vehicles are also excluded, with the cutoff being $80,000. This helps make electric vehicles more competitive against their gas-powered rivals.

We’ve put together a list of the vehicles that the EPA has claimed are eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. We explore what helps these EVs stand out and how much they cost before the tax credit is applied.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV

Starting MSRP: $34,995

Without counting any deals or credits, the Equinox EV is already one of the most affordable electric crossovers that you can buy in 2025. It may not be as powerful as its rivals, but it offers a ton of range on a single charge and can even be had with Super Cuise.

2025 Trims and Pricing

If you include the tax credit, the Equinox has a near unfair advantage over its competitors. It is already incredibly affordable. Taking this into account, we’d opt for the more expensive RS model. Don’t be shy to tack on some of the extra packages as well, as they add a ton of value.

2025 Tesla 3

Starting MSRP: $42,490

Tesla’s Model 3 is easily one of the most popular electric sedans on the market, and it’s easy to see why. It is priced competitively and features a classy minimalist interior, a comfortable ride, and impressive levels of acceleration. Its range is also easily among the best in its class.

Part of the Model 3’s success can be attributed to its affordable starting price. Even though they’ve gotten rid of the standard range model, it’s hard to argue with the price of the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive model. Including the tax credit, the cheapest Model 3 starts at $34,990.

2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV

Starting MSRP: $46,095

If you’re in the market for an electric mid-size SUV, then the Chevy Blazer is the most affordable option you’ll find. Despite it costing less than its rivals, it still comes competitively equipped. It looks fantastic and on the inside there is plenty of room for five passengers to stretch their legs.

2025 Trims and Pricing

There are a plethora of different setups for the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV, with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and rear-wheel drive all on offer. We think that the RS model with the more powerful rear-wheel drive setup is the most enjoyable model. It is already plenty affordable for an EV, the $7,500 tax credit puts it in competition with gas-powered SUVs.

2025 Honda Prologue

Starting MSRP: $47,400

Honda needed a way to keep itself competitive in the American market, and partnering with General Motors was the path they chose. Its platform, battery, and motors are the same as what you can find in the Chevrolet Blazer EV. Honda does at least put a unique spin on the SUV with different styling and by offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2025 Trims and Pricing

If you include the federal tax credit, the Honda Prologue’s most affordable is comparable to the Pilot, starting at around $40,000. This makes the mid-size SUV really hard to resist. Of the three trims, we’d opt for the Touring as it adds luxuries like heated seats, wireless charging pads, and automatic climate control.

2025 Tesla Y

Starting MSRP: $48,990

The Model Y has seen some exceptional success around the world. In fact, it is one of the best-selling vehicles worldwide. The 2025 model has just started rolling out with plenty of updates in tow, including a new front fascia and a refreshed interior loaded with features.

Where the Launch Edition used to be the only new Model Y you could grab, with a starting price of over $60,000, the Long-Range All-Wheel Drive model is now your only choice. The Model Y’s competitive pricing is one of the things that makes it so popular, and the tax credit will bring it down to $41,490.

2025 Cadillac Optiq

Starting MSRP: $54,390

Cadillac’s smallest electric crossover, the Optiq, shows that the brand is still capable of some great things. Not only does it offer interior luxury at a price that undercuts most of its competitors, but it is genuinely enjoyable to drive. It also features some pretty great curb appeal.

2025 Trims and Pricing

Cadillac’s EVs are offered in either Luxury trim or Sport trim, with the former being softer and more comfortable and the latter being more focused on performance. The jump to the Luxury or Sport 2 trims is minimal, so we’d make the leap either way. These models are already pretty affordable for luxury compact SUVs before you apply the tax savings.

2025 Cadillac Lyriq

Starting MSRP: $60,090

Cadillac has been trying really hard lately to recapture their reputation for luxury. Their move into the electric segment is a great opportunity to start fresh and achieve this goal. The Lyriq is their mid-size offering and is a luxury bargain compared to its main competitors.

2025 Trims and Pricing

The 2025 Lyriq comes in two distinct flavors; the Luxury or the Sport. We’d stick with the former due to the fact that even in its most hardened form, the Lyriq falls short of real sportiness. The Luxury 2 offers the best balance of price and features, and if you include the tax credit savings, it costs a humble $57,590.

2025 Ford F-150 Lightning EV

Starting MSRP: $62,995

Ford’s F-150 is the best-selling vehicle in the United States. Hence, it makes sense that the brand would choose to electrify it, as they aim to move towards an all-electric future. The F-150 Lightning offers a ton of value, and it is actually quicker than its gas-powered sibling.

Performance Specifications

As the Silverado’s base model doesn’t seem to be available at the moment, the Ford F-150 Lightning is the most affordable electric pickup you can grab today. The Flash represents the best value, including the truck’s coolest features without inflating the price too much. As the Platinum is over $80,000, you won’t get the tax credit with this model.

2025 Acura ZDX

Starting MSRP: $64,500

The Acura ZDX is marketed as a high-performance, two-row electric crossover. It makes use of the Ultium platform, meaning that it has a heart from General Motors with an Acura finish. Most of the GM influence is invisible, but there are some elements that have clearly been grabbed from the parts bin.

The ZDX is not the most affordable electric crossover on the market, being Acura’s flagship EV right now. However, a $7,500 is a pretty good incentive to pick one up. We’d go for the middle of the pack dual motor A Spec as it offers a lot more power and plenty of comfort features.

2025 Jeep Wagoneer S

Starting MSRP: $65,200

The Wagoneer S is the American brand’s first all-electric vehicle. It may feature the iconic Wagoneer name, but it is very different from the gas-powered SUV. It looks different, is smaller, and takes a sportier approach. Although it looks good on paper, its been mostly overlooked.

Jeep is clearly trying to position themselves as an entry-level luxury brand, with the Wagoneer S being the most expensive mid-size electric SUV from a mainstream automaker. They introduced the Limited model this year, which is slightly more affordable but loses some of the luxuries.

2025 Tesla Cybertruck

Starting MSRP: $69,990

The Cybertruck is perhaps one of the most controversial vehicles to hit the market in recent times, with styling that is incredibly polarizing. However, look past this and you’ll find a genuinely capable truck that offers impressive acceleration, great versatility, and exceptional range.

The Cyberbeast may have a ton of power and pin-you-to-your-seat acceleration, but the additional range and more palatable price tag of the other two models makes them the better choice. It is also over the $80,000 threshold, meaning it doesn’t qualify for the credit. The Cybertruck is priced pretty aggressively, meaning the tax credit should certainly make it a more viable option.

2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV

Starting MSRP: $74,195

Electric pickups are beginning to enter the market and change the way we look at our work trucks. There are already a number of options on the market, among them the Silverado EV easily holds its own. It is incredibly versatile and has one of the highest maximum ranges of any EV.

2025 Trims and Pricing

On Chevrolet’s site, they currently only offer three trims for the Silverado EV, excluding some of the more affordable models. However, we think that the LT Extended Range offers the best value for money anyway, and it’s the model we would get. It is also the only model that qualifies for the tax credit.

2026 Cadillac Vistiq

Starting MSRP: $79,090

Historically, the Escalade has been Cadillac’s flagship luxury SUV for a long time now. However, the Vistiq may challenge that. While there is an EV version of the Escalade, the Vistiq clearly aims to usher in a new era. This full-size luxury SUV may define the American brand going forward.

2026 Trims and Pricing

The Vistiq comes in a number of different trims, all increasing luxury and comfort. While the Platinum aims to challenge ultra-luxury rivals, we think that the base Luxury model already comes well-equipped and will offer more than enough for most people. It is also under the $80,000 threshold. At this price point, a tax credit is certainly welcome.

2026 Kia EV6

Starting MSRP: TBD

The Kia EV6 launched back in 2022 and its unique styling and impressive value made it an instant hit. For 2025, it received some updated styling elements, making it even more attractive. While pricing for the 2026 model hasn’t been announced yet, Kia shifting production to the U.S. means all trims should be eligible for the tax credit.

Currently, the 2025 EV6 has a starting MSRP of $44,375. Should the price for the 2026 model be fairly similar, the federal tax credit should make it even more competitive. The Wind trim definitely offers the best value for money as it stands, with an MSRP of $51,775.

2026 Kia EV9

The 2026 model year of the EV9 will bring about some pretty major changes. Along with the inclusion of an NACS port, Kia will introduce the brand-new GT trim, which will be the quickest model yet. Kia shifting their production stateside will also add value in the form of the tax credit.

The addition of the GT trim for the 2026 model year gives enthusiasts a real option when shopping at this price point. The EV9 has a starting MSRP of $56,395 for the 2025 model year. Accounting for a slight increase, the $7,500 tax credit will certainly make it an even more attractive mid-size EV.
