Health Minister Rajanarsimha sanctions earned leave encashment for NIMS staff

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha on Monday announced that the State government has permitted the conversion of earned leaves into cash for NIMS employees, receiving AIIMS pay scales.

Stating that aiming to fulfil a ‘long-cherished dream’ of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) employees, the government said the minister greenlit the ‘Annual Surrender of Earned Leave Encashment Scheme’.

Under the special initiative of the State Medical and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, the government on Monday issued an order (GO 230) providing this facility to the NIMS employees.

NIMS staff raised the issue of leaves with the government

NIMS regular employees, who have been receiving AIIMS pay scales, do not have the option to convert earned leaves into cash till now.

The employee unions have been bringing this to the attention of the government for a long time. Recently, representatives of the Hospital Nursing Association conveyed their problem to the minister. Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, who responded positively to this problem, discussed it with the officials and issued appropriate orders, the government said.

According to the latest orders, NIMS employees can now also surrender their earned leaves and get cash as per the provisions of the ‘Telangana Leave Rules-1933’ applicable to Telangana State government employees. Health Secretary Christina Z Chongu issued a GO to this effect on Monday.

The order issued by the Minister’s office read, “The government accords permission for grant of Annual Surrender of Earned Leave Encashment Scheme to the regular employees of NIMS, Hyderabad, drawing AIIMS (Central) pay scales on par with the Telangana State Government employees under the Telangana Leave Rules, 1933.”

NIMS employees express happiness

NIMS employees expressed their gratitude to Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha for recognising their hardship and fulfilling their long-standing desire. They expressed joy that this decision will benefit thousands of employees.

The government, in an X post, said that the issuance of the GO shows the commitment of the government towards the welfare of the health and medical employees.
