How Does Rex Die in Invincible Season 3 Episode 7?

We are in the endgame phase of Invincible Season 2, and the stakes are higher than ever before in the current story arc. Angstrom making an army out of various Invincible variants was teased in the earlier episodes. Now, the multiversal villain has executed his plan and brought all the variants of Mark into Earth in episode 7 of Invincible Season 3. While fighting against a variant, Rex Splode sacrificed his life for the greater good. Rex Splode vs Invincible Variant Fight

All the 18 Invincible variants were wreaking havoc across different nations after Angstrom led them to this Earth using his portal. They were tasked to destroy the planet and hand over the real Mark to him. Rex Splode was helping out Rae when all of this destruction was happening. When one of the Invincible variants attacked the Teen Team’s current base of operations, Rex Splode also put on his cape to defend his loved ones against these evil versions of Mark.

Rex Splode’s initial moments against the variant was off-screen, but it was evident that Rex Splode took a heavy blow as he was seen having a deep wound on his hip. The Invincible variant completely overpowered Bullet Proof and Rudy, and Monster Girl was in urgent need of medical help. Therefore, Rex Splode decided to fight alone and lied to his friends that he could handle the Invincible variant all on his own.

Rex Splode’s Tragic Death in Invincible Season 3

Rex tried to use everything around him to explode the Invincible variant, but everything went in vain as the Viltrumites have a highly resilient physique. When the variant grabbed Rex by his neck, he knew that this was the end of the road for him. Remember the deep wound he got in his hip I mentioned above? He used his Kinetic Charging ability to charge his own skeleton and exploded to death. Thus, it was the only way for Rex Splode to take out the alternate variant of Invincible when he was on the verge of death.

Is Rex Really Dead in Invincible?

He luckily cheated death once in his battle against the Lizard League. Rex only started getting his life back on track and found his match (Rae) recently. Unfortunately, he had to sacrifice his life to save his friends. Rex Splode’s death has made this episode hit harder emotionally, and he will always be remembered as a great hero. In comics as well, Rex Splode died at the hands of an Invincible variant. So, yes, Rex is really dead and won’t return in further Invincible episodes, provided showmakers follow the comics storyline as they have done so far.
