The original anime arrived when the manga was still being released, so the anime producers decided to create a different narrative after running out of content. However, Brotherhood was released after the completion of the manga, and that’s how it could adapt the story more faithfully.
The Sacred Star of Milos is a spin-off film that has no direct connection to the original storyline, but we can’t deny it being a part of the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood timeline.
