Where is the T20 World Cup 2026 being held?
The T20 World Cup 2026 will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. New Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Chennai will stage matches in India, while the host cities in Sri Lanka are Colombo and Kandy.
The opening game between New Zealand and Pakistan will be held at the SSC Cricket Ground in Colombo, with the final set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, as Pakistan will play all their matches in Sri Lanka, the final will shift to the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo should they get that far.
How many teams are in the T20 World Cup 2026?
Twenty teams will take part at the T20 World Cup 2026. This is the second edition to feature 20 sides after the ICC increased the size of the competition for the 2024 tournament.
India and Sri Lanka earned automatic places as co-hosts, while Afghanistan, Australia, England, South Africa, the U.S. and the West Indies automatically qualified based on their performance two years ago.
Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan and Scotland advanced based on the ICC T20I Team Rankings, while Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Oman and the U.A.E. won various regional qualifiers.
