Is Vi and Caitlyn’s Relationship Canon in Arcane?

Arcane Season 2 was a mind-blowing sequel to the first season, including several twists and turns to the story of Vi and Jinx. Even though we haven’t been introduced to many new characters, the final season shines a brighter light on the old characters and resolves many of the mysteries. While some fans rejoice that Ambessa has gotten more of the spotlight, a major part of the fandom is obsessed with Caitlyn and Vi’s relationship.

The first season sort of hinted at a “spark” between these two characters, but the second season made it quite clear that Vi and Cait share a romantic relationship. Now, some fans may wonder if CatVi is canon in Arcane and in League of Legends by extension. Well, here’s everything you need to know about Vi and Caitlyn dating.

This post includes heavy spoilers for Season 2 of the Arcane animated series, now streaming on Netflix.

Initially, in Season 2, we see Caitlyn doing everything she can to bring Vi on her side. She fights with the entire council to get an Enforcer badge for Vi. Vi, who saw Enforcers killing her parents, agrees to wear the uniform just for the sake of Caitlyn.

Of course, she wants to stop Jinx, but she could have done it without wearing the uniform. However, she does that anyway, only to show her affection towards Cait.

At this point, it was already clear that Vi and Cait have feelings for each other, but the creators decided to go the extra mile to show that. In the first act itself, we see an emotionally vulnerable Vi asking Caitlyn not to change. Well, Caitlyn not only agrees to that but also moves forward to kiss Vi in Arcane Season 2. So yeah, for those wondering, did Vi and Caityln ever kiss, the answer is yes.

Vi, at the same time, drops her Gauntlets to hold Cait with her arms. It was indeed a lovely moment that had every fan tear up and scoot over to the edge of their seats. The fandom always wanted them to see them together, and the show delivered that beautifully.

Following the brief kiss, Cait and Vi parted ways as the latter stopped the former from killing Jinx. Even though Vi explained that she stopped her because the little kid was trying to protect Jinx, Cait walked away, leaving Vi behind. However, when Vi and Jinx approached Viktor to seek a cure for Warwick aka Vander, Cait betrays Ambessa and again sides with Vi.

Later, in the final act, we also get to witness the two sharing an intimate moment, which gives us an update on their relationship. Moreover, after Jinx’s ultimate sacrifice, Vi finds a home in Caitlyn.

Is Vi and Caitlyn Canon?

Well, the answer to this question is yes; Vi and Caitlyn’s relationship is canon to the League of Legends lore. Firstly, you should know that Riot has confirmed that everything that happened in Arcane is canon to League of Legends, so it automatically answers your question about Vi and Cait’s relationship.

However, even before Arcane’s release, League of Legends fans knew that Vi and Cait were in a relationship. That was evident from the LoL music videos like Warriors, where Vi and Caitlyn are seen fighting together.

In the LoL lore, Caitlyn gets Vi out of prison and takes her help to fight crime in Zaun and Piltover. Their story in the game’s lore is not that different from what we’ve seen in Arcane. The lore states that Vi and Cait have been fighting crime together for years, and their friendship and professional relationship developed into something more. Although we didn’t see any confirmation of that in the game, Riot does confirm that through the Arcane TV show.
