Pinarayi Vijayan Criticizes National Awards Juries For The Kerala Story:
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly criticised the National Film Awards juries for recognising The Kerala Story, calling it a decision that promotes misinformation and communal division. The film, which has been controversial since its release, was awarded at the 71st National Film Awards, sparking widespread debate.
In a statement shared on his official social media handle, CM Vijayan wrote, “By honouring a film that spreads blatant misinformation with the clear intent of tarnishing Kerala’s image and sowing seeds of communal hatred, the jury of the National Film Awards has lent legitimacy to a narrative rooted in the divisive ideology of the Sangh Parivar.”
He further added that Kerala has always stood as a symbol of communal harmony and resistance against hatred. “Kerala, a land that has always stood as a beacon of harmony and resistance against communal forces, has been gravely insulted by this decision,” he said. The Chief Minister also called on all citizens who believe in democracy to speak out. “It is not just Malayalis, but everyone who believes in democracy, must raise their voice in defence of truth and the constitutional values we hold dear,” he appealed.
