LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Families in the Las Vegas area honored grandparents with a day filled with activities aimed at fostering connection and promoting health and wellness at the Whitney Community Center on Saturday.
The event coincides with Grandparents Day on September 7 and Grandparents Appreciation Month.
The Celebrate Grandparents event, hosted by the Clark County Whitney Recreation Center and Health Plan of Nevada Medicaid, is free of charge and will offer interactive activities centered around nutrition, exercise, and connection.
The event aims to provide grandparents, children, and families with opportunities to celebrate together, strengthen bonds, and explore ways to enhance their health and wellness.
Several local organizations participated, providing health resources, wellness, and social service information.
Planned activities included brunch, crafts, fitness demonstrations, live entertainment, and family-friendly games.
A special appearance by mascot Dr. Health E. Hound was there for those who attended.
A dedicated website, www.celebrategrandparents.com, has been launched to offer resources and information for grandparents and grandfamilies, encouraging year-round celebration.
