Middlesex Hospital announced the grand opening of Middlesex Hospital Specialty Pharmacy in collaboration with Clearway Health on Tuesday.
The launch of the specialty pharmacy marks the health system’s first retail and specialty pharmacy.
Middlesex Hospital currently offers pharmacy services to inpatients, but the new special pharmacy will provide those same services to patients not admitted to the hospital.
Among the services provided are specialized medication education and clinical support, medication adherence support, refill reminders, affordable prescriptions with prior authorization, co-pay assistance support and home delivery services.
“Managing complex or chronic health conditions can be overwhelming, and many patients face challenges when accessing the medications they need. This new specialty pharmacy will reduce financial burden and improve the patient experience,” Vincent G. Capece, Jr., president and CEO of Middlesex Health, said.
“Middlesex Hospital and Clearway Health collaborated closely to ensure the specialty pharmacy was designed with an optimized workflow and a structure that supported the long-term needs of the hospital’s clinical teams, pharmacists and patients,” Christopher Wilson, senior director of pharmacy operations at Clearway Health, said.
Located on the lower level of Middlesex Health Cancer Center, the pharmacy is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
