Netflix isn’t adding a ton to the streaming service this week. But with “Stranger Things” now in the rearview mirror, it’s time to move on to Netflix’s next big thing, and that thing could be “The Rip.” This crime thriller has Ben Affleck and Matt Damon together again for an action-packed heist. It’s easily the biggest Netflix movie of the week, and might be the biggest Netflix movie of the year so far.
If you prefer a binge-watch to a movie marathon, though, don’t worry. This week also brings “Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials,” a new mystery miniseries from the creator of “Broadchurch.” With a cast that includes Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman, there’s more than enough talent on and off the screen to make this show a must-add to your watchlist.

‘The Rip’

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are back together again as Miami detectives, Lt. Dane Dumars and Det. Sgt. JD Byrne, respectively. In “The Rip,” these two are tasked with raiding a stash house that was supposed to contain a measley $300,000 in drug money. But by the time their narcotics squad — which includes Steven Yeun and Teyana Taylor — is done searching the house, they’ve found $20 million in cash.
That’s a life-changing amount of money, and suddenly, everyone has ideas about what to do with it. Unfortunately for Dumars and Byrne, everyone who wants the money also has guns, and that turns a tense crime thriller into an explosive action movie. In the trailer, we get flames, hailstorms of bullets and at least one car chase. You definitely don’t want to miss what could be the next great Netflix action movie.

‘Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials’

There’s nothing like a bingable mystery miniseries. “Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials” stars Mia McKenna-Bruce as Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, a young woman with aspirations toward becoming a great detective. At a house party in the 1925 English countryside, she gets her chance, as she’s suddenly tasked with solving how a practical joke left one of the partygoers dead.
I’m not especially familiar with Ms. McKenna-Bruce, but she racked up a fair amount of acting awards for her role in “How to Have Sex.” She’ll be atop a talented call sheet, which features Helena Bonham Carter as Lady Caterham and Martin Freeman as Battle. The former seems to be trying to warn Lady Brent about the dangers of her investigation in the teaser trailer above, and the latter figures to play a prominent role in how this mystery will unfold.
Plus, this three-part series is coming from “Broadchurch” creator Chris Chibnall, so trust me when I say expectations are already high.

‘The Upshaws’ part 7

“The Upshaws” is back on Netflix this week for its seventh and final season. The sitcom stars comedian Mike Epps as Bennie Upshaw, a mechanic who owns and operates his own garage in Indianapolis and is the patriarch of his family. It also stars Kim Fields as his wife, Regina, who, in this final season, has decided to run for office, while Bennie’s garage deals with some hard times.
Aside from the two heads of the family, “The Upshaws” also stars Khali Spraggins and Journey Christine as Bennie and Regina’s two young daughters and Jermelle Simon as Bennie and Regina’s son. But that’s not the only son Bennie has. Diamond Lyons also stars as a son he fathered with another woman (Gabrielle Dennis) and Wanda Sykes features as Regina’s older sister, Lucretia. Spoiler alert, she is not Bennie’s biggest fan.

‘The Boyfriend’ season 2

“The Boyfriend” was a groundbreaking show when it debuted in 2024, as it’s Japan’s first reality show focused on same-sex relationships. In the show, a group of men are put together in close quarters for a chance at friendship — or something more.
In season 1, our eligible bachelors were in a beach house in Chiba, but this season, things are getting ice cold before they can get steamy. In “The Boyfriend” season 2, the show heads north to a shared house on Lake Akan in Hokkaido.
The core premise remains the same, though: 10 single men running a coffee truck while living together in the “Green Room” with a chance at finding their future boyfriend.

‘Love Through a Prism’

Anime fans, rejoice. This week, Netflix has something new for you. “Love Through a Prism” comes from acclaimed manga writer Yoko Kamio, whose “Boys Over Flowers” was a major hit. Now they’re bringing a new original story to Netflix that is sure to be a hit with fans.
This new anime series is set at a fictional London art academy, Saint Thomas Art Academy, and centers around Lili Ichijoin (Atsumi Tanezaki), a young woman fascinated by painting. She’s come to London to chase her dreams, but might get more than she bargained for in this coming-of-age story.

‘Monday Night Raw: 2026’ (Netflix live event)

“WWE Raw” is one of the wrestling empire’s two weekly shows. Every Monday, fans of spandex and suplex alike tune in to watch wrestling’s biggest stars face off against each other in the ring. There’s drama, trash talking, shocking moments and knock-down drag-out fights. In short, it’s a wrestling fan’s dream and better than any soap opera you’re watching
This week, it’s the first show since CM Punk defeated Bron Breakker to retain the world heavyweight championship, and the first “Raw” since AJ Styles slapped Gunther in the face. Come for the drama, stay for the fights.

‘Bone Lake’

“Bone Lake” isn’t just a euphemism, as the trailer to this movie quickly points out. It’s also home to a secluded lake house where couple Sage (Maddie Hasson) and Diego (Marco Pigossi) and couple Will (Alex Roe) and Cin (Andra Nechita) have both seemingly booked the same rental.
Now, with a premise like that and a name like “Bone Lake,” you know that this story isn’t going to end well. But even you can’t imagine the twists and turns this erotic thriller takes before it’s over. This was a suprise critical darling when it came out late last year, so don’t miss it now that it’s finally available to stream on Netflix.
