New on Netflix in April 2026: 5 best shows and movies to stream, plus full release list

Netflix has revealed everything coming to the streaming service in April 2026, and there are quite a few shows and movies you won’t want to miss. Top of the list is the return of “Beef.” Once a limited series, Emmy wins turned it into an anthology series, and this time, the cast is led by Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, who get into a violent couple’s spat.

But that’s not all that’s coming to Netflix this month. “Roommates” also focuses on couples drama, but this comedy film is about a couple of roommates. Not a husband-and-wife duo. There’s also “Apex,” which features the most aggressive showdown of these titles yet, with Taron Egerton hunting Charlize Theron in the Australian wilderness.

New on Netflix in April 2026: Top picks

‘Beef’ season 2

BEEF: Season 2 | Official Teaser | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

Genre: Comedy-drama miniseries

What it’s about: Country club manager Josh (Oscar Isaac) and his wife Lindsay (Carey Mulligan) have a massive fight that could blow up their marriage. But they catch one of his employees, Ashley (Cailee Spaeny), and her fiancé, Austin (Charles Melton), fleeing into the woods after witnessing the whole thing.

Why you should watch it: This is all about how just a single outburst of anger can have long-ranging consequences. Season 1 won an Emmy for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series; with a cast that features Isaac, Mulligan, Spaeny and Melton, I won’t be surprised if it becomes a repeat winner for season 2.

‘Roommates’

ROOMMATES | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

Genre: Comedy movie

What it’s about: Devon (Sadie Sandler) and Celeste (Chloe East) are new college roommates. But what starts as a blossoming friendship turns into a passive-aggressive conflict.

Why you should watch it: If Sadie Sandler is going to become a full-blown lead actress, then this movie will need to be good. With her dad, Adam, in charge as a co-producer, I’m hopeful it’ll manage to be just that.

Stream “Roommates” on Netflix starting April 17

‘Running Point’ season 2

Kate Hudson Announces Running Point Season 2 – YouTube

Watch On

Genre: Sports comedy series

What it’s about: Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) suddenly finds herself in charge of her family’s pro basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves.

Why you should watch it: They may not have the rights to the NBA or the Lakers, but what this comedy has is talented actors and talented comedy writers. If you like a workplace sitcom, this show will work for you.

Stream “Running Point” season 2 on Netflix starting April 23

‘Apex’

Apex | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

Genre: Survival action thriller movie

What it’s about: Sasha (Charlize Theron) is trying to get to her destination in the Australian wilderness, but it’s not just the terrain that’s deadly. She suddenly finds herself hunted by a trained killer (Taron Egerton) in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse.

Why you should watch it: I don’t need convincing to watch Taron Egerton doing an Australian accent hunting Charlize Theron like he’s the Predator. Sign me up right now.

Stream “Apex” on Netflix starting April 24

‘Man on Fire’

Man on Fire | Official Teaser | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

Genre: Action thriller series

What it’s about: Former mercenary John Creasy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is trying to leave his dark past behind. But a quest for revenge might put those plans on hold.

Why you should watch it: If you’ve seen “Wonder Man” or “Watchmen,” you know that having Abdul-Mateen II in your show is typically a good thing. Add in that he’s playing a character previously portrayed by Denzel Washington, and I’m officially sold.
