Nursing bras provide support while allowing baby easy access to their food source. Nursing bras are designed so that the flap covering the breast can be unclipped or slid aside while the rest of the bra stays in place, which can be helpful while nursing on the go or in more public places. They’re also less restrictive than your typical bra. 

After I gave birth to twin girls, my A cups ballooned into C’s. Even if I had wanted to wear one of my old favorite bras, nothing from my existing bra drawer would have fit. Aside from fit issues, my breastfeeding experience also came with some serious nipple discomfort—my girls’ latches were shallow and, as preemies, they didn’t have the strength to transfer much milk. All that added up to the dreaded triple feed—nursing, supplementing with formula, and pumping to coax my supply—every 2 to 3 hours. It was a lot. For most of it, I went braless. But eventually, I realized my hard-working breasts needed a little TLC themselves. That’s when I started looking for a nursing bra.
