Thanks to the data from the power station, Shaka, Pythagoras, and the primary Stella were able to discover that someone had tampered with the data and stolen a portion of the Mother Flame. They suspected the other satellites, primarily Lilith, to be the traitor. However, a week later, Pythagoras was able to find the culprit, York (which manga readers already knew). She had been feeding bogus memories into Punk Records, and that vital piece of information revealed her true colors.

York sent a portion of the Mother Flame to the World Government, leading to the Lulusia Incident. She also betrayed Stella by revealing to the Gorosei that he was researching the Void Century. After the Lulusia tragedy, Vegapunk concluded that the World Government holds one of the Ancient Weapons and he regretted causing this incident.

Vegapunk knew that he and all of his satellites would be hunted down by the World Government no matter where they escaped. Therefore, the three Vegapunks decided to put their lives on the line to safeguard everyone else on this planet. How did the genius do that? Let’s find out.

Dr. Vegapunk’s Master Plan was Executed Perfectly

First, Vegapunk made plans to protect the technology that produces artificial island clouds (similar to what we saw on Egghead Island). Then, he set everything we saw in the manga into motion, such as filming the message that was broadcast to the world after his death, planting the Den Den Mushi inside Emet, the Iron Giant, and other similar things.

To make sure his plans were executed successfully, Vegapunk ensured to delete his memories along with Shaka and Pythogoras’ memories.

As everything he planned started to unfold in the current timeline, Dr. Vegapunk was prepared to die to let the world learn the truth about their revered World Government. He firmly believed that his death would make waves, and it rightfully did so and forever changed the way view the One Piece world and its past – the Void Century. So, the most intelligent man pre-planned and changed the fate of the world by not letting his death go in vain.

We wanted Dr. Vegapunk and his satellites to be safe and escape with the Straw Hats. But a funny thing called fate played its cruel game, or was it all planned out? Since Dr. Vegapunk had wiped his memory, he could only remember the note he left to himself. So, he requested Sanji to let him die successfully, setting his plan into motion and laying the foundation for the storm we witnessed in the final moments of the Egghead arc.

This flashback changed our perception of Sanji and several fans have already started to apologize to Sanji who was called out online for not being of any help and not being able to save the old man.
