Paramount+ just added 77 new movies to start the month of March. That’s relatively tame for the streaming service’s monthly movie drop; last month, it added nearly 120 movies in a single day. But 77 movies are more than enough that you probably can’t watch them all in a single month, and that might be enough to overwhelm you.
So, without further delay, let’s dive into the five newly added to Paramount+ movies that I think you need to be streaming right now.

5 Paramount+ movies to stream right now
‘Blood Diamond’ (2006)
Watch On
Genre: Political war thriller
What’s it about? Set during the Sierra Leone Civil War, “Blood Diamond” stars Leonardo DiCaprio as gunrunner Danny Archer. When he hears of an enormous pink diamond buried by a river, he finds the miner who buried it, Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou). He agrees to reunite Vandy with his family in exchange for the diamond.
Why you should watch it: This is a good political thriller in its own right, but there are basically two reasons to see this movie: DiCaprio and Hounsou. Both earned Oscar nominations for their performances, cementing the latter as a Hollywood fixture.

‘Chinatown’ (1974)
Genre: Neo-noir mystery
What’s it about? J. J. “Jake” Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is hired to investigate Hollis (Darrell Zwerling), the chief engineer at the Department of Water and Power. But when Hollis turns up dead, it turns out Jake was hired by an imposter pretending to be the late Hollis’ wife, Evelyn Mulwray. Now, the real Evelyn (Faye Dunaway) has appeared, and she and Jake are investigating Hollis’ death together.
Why you should watch it: There’s an argument to be made that “Chinatown” is underrated, given that it only won a single Academy Award. But many now consider it one of the best movies of the 1970s and one of the best neo-noirs ever. If you’ve never seen it, stop what you’re doing and check it out now.

‘Good Will Hunting’ (1997)
Watch On
Genre: Drama
What’s it about? Will Hunting (Matt Damon) is a brilliant young man, but he can’t stop himself from getting in trouble. His big break comes, though, when MIT Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgård) discovers Will’s talents and helps keep him out of jail. There are just two conditions: Will must study under Gerald and attend therapy with Gerald’s friend, psychologist Sean Maguire (Robin Williams).
Why you should watch it: While Damon and his “Good Will Hunting” co-star/co-writer, Ben Affleck, had both been in movies before, this film marked the start of their ascent into stardom. Particularly for Damon. But both they and the talented Skarsgård are completely outclassed by Williams, whose performance is a deserved Oscar winner.

‘Nocturnal Animals’ (2016)
Watch On
Genre: Neo-noir psychological thriller
What’s it about? Susan (Amy Adams) receives a novel, “Nocturnal Animals,” from her estranged husband, Edward (Jake Gyllenhaal). In the novel, Tony (Gyllenhaal) is a normal family man who loses his wife and daughter in a tragic kidnapping. He then teams up with Det. Robert Andes (Michael Shannon) to bring the kidnappers to justice.
Why you should watch it: This movie switches from the real world to the novel and then back to the real world, but no matter where it’s set, it’s riveting. The cast in this movie is incredible, and a big reason why the movie is so worth watching, particularly Shannon’s performance as the West Texas detective.

‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ (2022)
Watch On
Genre: Black tragicomedy
What’s it about? Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm live on the small Irish isle of Inisherin. They’ve been lifelong friend but that all changes when Colm decides to abruptly end their friendship. That rash decision leads to some disastrous consequences.
Why you should watch it: This movie should have won Best Picture in 2023. It’s breathtakingly filmed and hauntingly beautiful, with more than a few stunning moments. Farrell and Gleeson’s pairing is flawless, allowing writer/director Martin McDonagh to hit this one out of the park with ease.
