Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Everything You Need to Know

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that smartphone manufacturers are running out of innovations, and lately AI features have been their only saving grace. However, after foldables, Samsung is on to making slimmer devices and is bringing the Edge moniker back in the process. Alongside the launch of their new Galaxy S25 lineup, Samsung also teased a new phone called the Galaxy S25 Edge soon, and here’s everything you need to know.

Galaxy S25 Edge: Design and Display

The design is the main highlight of the device, as the name suggests the phone should be much thinner. According to rumors, the S25 Edge’s dimensions will measure 159 x 76 x 6.4 mm. Considering, the S25 Edge is supposed to be the same size (length-wise) as the Galaxy S25 Plus, which makes it almost 1mm thinner compared to the S25 Plus’ rumored dimensions (7.3 mm).

While 1 mm may not seem like a huge deal on paper, the difference when the phones are held should be quite noticeable. It certainly won’t give an unfolded Z Fold 6 a run for its money, but it should be a great option for those who need a slimmer Samsung Galaxy device that’s not a foldable phone. Besides, the overall design language, curvature, and camera design should be similar to the Galaxy S25 series.

The display of the S25 Edge shouldn’t be any different from the standard S25 series. It should feature the same 2X Dynamic LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and should be a flat panel.

Cameras

This is where it gets interesting. On paper, you would expect the S25 Edge to be just a slimmer version of the Galaxy S25+ but that’s not the case. The teaser in the event suggests the phone will have a dual-rear camera setup.

Could the primary sensor be the same 200 MP primary shooter, while the secondary could be either a Periscope or Ultrawide? We have no idea, as it’s too soon to say.

With multiple rumors floating around about Samsung using ALoP (All Lenses on Prism) technology to reduce camera bump, the 50 MP periscope telephoto rumor seems more believable but we could be wrong.

ALoP uses lenses stacked horizontally rather than vertically in conventional Periscope lenses, leading to a less protruding camera bump.

Battery and Software

Given the phone’s thinner nature, rumors suggest the battery will be a 4,500 mAh cell. It would’ve made sense if Samsung had used the latest Silicon Carbon battery technology to pack a denser battery. However, given that the brand has a history of explosions, they better be a year late than rush with including these batteries. Rumors suggest we’ll see Silicon-Carbon batteries in the Galaxy S26 series in 2026.

Software-wise, we expect the Galaxy S25 Edge to come with One UI 7.1 based on Android 15 out of the box. Since One UI 7 will be released in Galaxy Unpacked 2025, there’s a good chance Samsung will roll out the incremental update by May 2025 and the phone will come with it if the release date lines up correctly.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Hardware

If you expect the S25 Edge to feature the latest Qualcomm SoC, you’d be both right and wrong. While S25 Edge is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite, it may not be the full-specced version of the processor. Instead, many say, the Edge variant may equip the recently spotted hepta-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which features one less performance core.

If that’s true, it’s probably to prevent potential overheating issues and make the phone’s smaller battery last longer. There’s only so much cooling Samsung can add to a slimmer chassis. Since the new 8 Elite SKU comes with one performance core disabled, it should be a bit more efficient.

Expected Pricing and Storage

Since the S25 Edge looks like it would slot in between the S25+ and S25 Ultra, the base variant of the Galaxy should come with 256 GB and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage alongside 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM. There’s no info on the pricing but Mark Gurman says it could cost below $1,299.

Despite the rumors, Samsung didn’t bump the price of the S25 series. The S25 Ultra still costs $1,299, and the S25 Plus, for the 256GB variant, is $999. The Edge should comfortably fit in the middle for $1,099.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Potential Release Date

Samsung gave us a glimpse of the Galaxy S25 Edge at the end of Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. While the firm is yet to announce an official release date for the device, popular tipster Setsuna Digital (via Weibo) suggests it will “probably launch in May 2025”. We suggest you take this with a grain of salt.
